as ochras are pretty robust as I understand, not sweating it too much. squeeze handfuls til approx field capacity, and add to box.

I'm eyeballing it, aiming for 3:1, no particular reason. it's too late to think too hard about it. now to open that jar.


omfg it smells so good. tip it out, just using a finger to loosen the cake and pour grains out. looks real nice!

mix it up slow, handfuls at a time, digging out the corners. gentle tamp, and a quarter inch pseudocasing of coir approx. and another gentle tamp, a little firmer around the edges. sweet.

label and put the lid on, unlatched, because spawn to fruiting, as we all know

and some colonized grains put aside to dry for storage...

now to litfa (if possible) and if all goes well, soon we'll be munching on ochras!
