I forgot to add... the difference in waiting times to start treatment here was over twice as long. However, this meant the difference between 2 weeks and 5 weeks and the difference of thousands of dollars and mere gas money to the hospital.

Glad to hear she finished her treatments. Not all do. My father, for one. He died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma last year. His wait to start chemo -- after a very long wait for tests and a very long wait for the results of the tests and a very long wait for a referral to an oncologist -- was less than five weeks, but only because he collapsed at home and was taken to Emergency. He was then admitted for observation and stabilization. When my mother informed the hospital that he was on the waiting list for chemo, they started it two days later. He died the next day.

Cost, by the way, was not $0. Canada doesn't have free health care, it has pre-paid health care.
