Sometimes, depending on the weather and environment, a couple of mother plates can come in handy... Give them a week before you get the first transfer and from there you'll know. Anything that looks healthy and moving VERY fast. Keep in mind some pan varieties like TTBVI can fluff up like cloud, nothing wrong with it. Get 3 or 4 transfers from the same mother plate. Fast and vigorous is what you want.

How's your agar recipe btw? 0.5% work wonders for mycelium readers

I’ve been using the same 2% recipe for everything. Should I make me some starvation plates for them?

Yeah everything including transfers seems like it’s going so fast but then just stops. My transfers stop at about quarter size and never get any bigger.

Yep, 0.5% 'ultra slim diet' agar is great for pans and most exotics in my own experience. Makes reading the mycelium growth patterns so much easier. Don't let pan mycelium over grow the plate. About a quarter size is good enough, if the culture selected turns flawless, it will colonize the grain in no time, and yes..they move that fast. BH used to call it 'their momentum'...bless his heart

This should give you an idea how it looks running on 0.5% agar

I think I'll try this pump, too. I've never used a jcm before but I have all the stuff to build
one. Want to try for zaps and semps. Are you using this for those species as well?

(I want to keep the tent for pans though)

The jcm works for everything, even cubes (they won't fry).
Now i gotta warn you though, i used to run a grow tent and it remains dismantled and stored in my shed. The jcm can be extremely addicting hardcore level, just saying

I get mine from the local racing horse stable, usually already dried to bits but whenever i get some that seems a little too fresh, i lay out a tarp in my yard, dump the manure on top of it and let it sit there for a week or two. Works like a charm
