I appreciate your rambling! The cloud watching is now on my bucket list. The auditory stuff I got personally was weird. On the comeup I was getting a whole bunch of typical repetitive robotic noises like sirens and a lot of other stuff I cannot pin point now. The setting i did them in was very weird in itself anyhow so I look forward to do over 2g (1,6 last time) somewhere nice. Even outside which for now in scandinavia was a no no.
My cyans got me seeing yellow greenish. I have the original print of the ttbvi so it would be fun to share both the original culture and the one I manipulated to see if others sense the huge difference as well.
Shutting up before self banning again 😝🤐

TTBVI will do this to me in VERY high doses, like straight out android voices-like auditory hallucinations. Lots of electric blue and radiant silver hues coming in by the millions per second. Unlike other pan varieties, you gotta tune them down or else they become unbearable lol

ps,
Absolutely NOT a typical dose, i promise

Well, after 3 days, the myc in the dried leaf subs hardly want to step out off from the grain.  The compost/straw subs are nearly 75% colonized and I'll start getting a casing together later.

The dried leaf casing isn't looking too hot either, but nothing has turned for the worst yet.  I'll probably still case the leaf subs anyways too, unless it's green by then.  womp womp womp.

Sometimes, depending on the weather and environment, a couple of mother plates can come in handy... Give them a week before you get the first transfer and from there you'll know. Anything that looks healthy and moving VERY fast. Keep in mind some pan varieties like TTBVI can fluff up like cloud, nothing wrong with it. Get 3 or 4 transfers from the same mother plate. Fast and vigorous is what you want.:heart:

How's your agar recipe btw? 0.5% work wonders for mycelium readers :mushroom2:

I’ve been using the same 2% recipe for everything. Should I make me some starvation plates for them?

Yeah everything including transfers seems like it’s going so fast but then just stops. My transfers stop at about quarter size and never get any bigger.

Somethin ain’t right

Yeah, 0.5% for Pans.  Water agar can be good too for transferring from germ plates.

It is pretty great learning new things.. this season has been especially awesome.  Lots of new stuff at once

A hood and agar are real game changers.  I do feel like I came into it at the right time.. pans have already been figured out… semps.  A quick line was found and zaps are all but figured out.  All the heavy lifting has already been done

Aquaneat.  Been thinking about getting new ones tho.  Or a single 4 port.  The fittings aren’t great and tend to vibrate themselves off which should give you an idea for how loud they are.  They’re not like SUPER loud but I feel like there’s quieter ones out there.  They were just cheap buys off the zon.  I didn’t know if I was going to fail miserably at pans so I wanted to keep the start up costs as low as possible lol

But I’m ready to upgrade if you or anyone has a suggestion for a 4 port that you can barely hear and doesn’t make the hoses fall off lol

I'm also using aqua neat

This four port.  The hoses stay on well and it seems the quietest from the reviews for the gph that it moves.

There's bigger and louder and smaller and quiter.  But yeah, did a lot of window shopping and couldn't find anything better.

It's still fairly loud though.

I was all ready to start the AIO jars but my coir, micronutrients, and calcium carbonate delivery date from Amazon went from yesterday to 'if you don't get this stuff by the 20th, contact us for a refund'.

It's a long weekend, I'm hoping the box just ended up on a wrong truck.

I had a pump that fed into a jar with little brown balls when I first started with cubes. Unnecessary overthinking with cubes, and I love unmodified tubs today.

Anyways, placing it on a rag cut down on the noise.

I opted for longevity over noise with something similar to this. Mines 1000gph https://a.co/d/3Tduw1j

I think I'll try this pump, too. I've never used a jcm before but I have all the stuff to build
one. Want to try for zaps and semps. Are you using this for those species as well?

(I want to keep the tent for pans though)

Can I derail this pumped conversation to shit?
QQ:From what I understood, fresh Hpoo is ill-advised on account of high ammonia content tho the high nitrogen seems welcomed; is there any way of neutralising ammonia that doesn't involve weeks?

Haven’t tried zaps yet.  That’s gonna be a fall project.  When I first set up my jcm, I didn’t have pans ready for testing it out so I put the first semp Tupperware in it.. that was a bad test run tho because I figured later that the peat I was using had gone bad in some way and the semp myc avoided it like the plague.  It was also before I started using a drip shield so the semp sub got soaked the whole time.. wasn’t a great test run all in all.  The Tupperware is also really tall so there was barely any headroom.

Although, semps didn’t seem to mind the wetness and from what I hear zaps kind of require it so I think they’d do great in a jcm.  Probably lower the temp (I’m keeping mine at 84F for pans).. that’s probably help a bit with dampness some.  All that’s to say, I think you should give it a shot

Pretty sure baba uses fresh manure for his tea tek but I can’t remember the exact process for fresh, I’m pretty sure if you briefly soak in water a couple times you could potentially rinse most of the nasties out, I haven’t tried though, I just dumped mine in the sun for a couple days after my latest fresh hpoo fuck ups.
