u guys i appreciate ur opinions but i'm trying to figure out if it's ok to not use vermiculite, but instead u some compost with perlite in it or nothing at all jsut a substrate.

If you are trying some sort of pftek or mmgg, you better get your hands on some verm and do it properly or you'll screw it all up!

your more knowledgeable than me on this subject but, couldn't you just use, say, perlite or something in a mix of peat or whatever?
i though the vermiculite was there to sort of airate or make the casing light and fluffy ?
