It sucks having homeless encampments screwing up the vibe wherever you go. Some solutions we haven't tried: Fire the cops
defund the military
repeal the 2nd amendment
abandon prohibition
nationalize the oil industry
forbid health care for profit - Medicare For All!
publicly fund political campaigns
provide free public college educations
codify Roe vs Wade and hand out free rubbers all over town
tax churches and use that money to build single tiny houses (dispersed) outlaw golf
abolish borders
bring back trains
normalize bidets

In the meantime, hire homeless guys to do trash pickup and street cleaning. Provide bathrooms, free showers, free laundry, free medical services. Make disparaging videos of poorly behaved citizens. Institutionalize the seriously mentally ill. Seriously consider alternatives to this capitalist dystopia. Burn the bras, bring back tube tops and hot pants!

Above all, resist the tough on crime horseshit. ACAB

One point as a non-us person: everyone I know (European) who went in the US were unanimous on the fact that homeless people are faaaaar more scary in the US.

The main reason is probably no access to any decent medical care which obviously destroy your health quicker, plus crazy drug usage. That's also a reason why US has its life span reducing each year.

Legally/physically forcing or obligating proximity in an effort to curb segregation between classes will not work. Good way to start more wars. Mandates work about as well as nagging. People love it. Laws don't work and have never worked.

"we" don't need to do any such thing. You do you, and I'll do me. I don't choose to force anybody to do anything by social or physical means.

I've been wayward. I live in a house now. I have seen and understand what is happening. Before passing any moral authority, or judgement, or viewing any group of people as an "issue", try walking a mile in their shoes. Many many people on this planet are just surviving every day.
