My buddy had the soul caliber parry timing down so well that he was basically unbeatable.

I literally can remember 2 different instances of 2 different friends absolutely raging at me after school and me apologizing saying I'm just trying to play the game 😭

Edit: I'm not hardcore like that anymore with the newer games though. Like smash ultimate I have a friend who is literally untouchable as Samus. It's crazy.

I remember watching those guys play smash bros in the university library, I would consider myself a decent fighter in the N64 version and ok in the GameCube version, but I'd get my shit kicked in by those dudes.

Smash Bros 64 went hard. That's one of the few that was good enough to drive me nuts while in passionately fierce competition with friends. To the point that the heated arguments around our playing nearly caused us to come to fisticuffs on numerous occasions. Luckily it never did, but it got sure did it close.
