Auto-SummaryThe author addresses a quote from Angry Slice, expressing concern that selling information about magic mushrooms, which can help improve people's lives, is a low move. The author emphasizes that their extensive knowledge on the subject should be freely accessible, as they have published numerous papers, books, and photographs related to magic mushrooms. The author also mentions that their site offers free access to this information, in contrast to other sites that sell similar content. The author further explains that their site is unique because it does not sell their photos or posts, and they are upset that another site, Hippie, is selling archived CD's containing their images without permission.
Hi Angry Slice,
In response to your quote below, I offer the following:
Quote: in all of your mushroom trips and mescaline adventures did it not ever occur to you that maybe you shouldnt try to sell this information? IMHO its a low move to try and earn money off of information, especially something that could help to change people for the better. if your an expert, then teach. teaching used to be something important in this world, now its just another way to make a buck.
this is something that should not be commercialized, or end up in copyright courts. this should be free.
On my site are more than 2 dozen published papers by me, three of my published books and hundreds of news clippings on shrooms, and more than 2500 photographs of 55 of the more than 190 known magic mushrooms species with info on their descriptions and habitats.
Those are free to anyone who wants to look.
AS for free , so is my art gallery with 3000 images on it but they are copyrighted with no copying them allowed from the site (http://www.releasethereality.com/mjart.htm
This is protected by the site owner and when I return home, h has space fopr about 3000 more graphic imagse, making that the largest online display of graphic psychedelic art.
When I first learned of magic shrooms, no one knew about them except a small handful of Harvard students and graduates and a few people in the Pacific Northwest.
Many of us included in this group were Scott Chilton, Jonathan Ott, Paul Stamets, Richard Alan Miller, David Tatelman, Everett Kardell, Richard Hans Norland, Gary Menser, Michael Beug, Jeremy Bigwood, and several others.
WE all learned about these shrooms through food-hunter gathering techniques and mushroom conferences which cost us $150.00 per person and up to attend.
Nothing was free.
The people who came and lectured to us as well as us also lecturing were all paid for doing this because of our knowledge.
It cost us money to bring such noted authrities as Albert Hofmann, Andrew Weil, R. Gordon Wasson, Richard Evans Schultes, Dr. Steven Pollock, Gary Lincoff, Weston La Barre, Aldous Huxley, Laura Huxley, Bo Holmestead, Bruce Eisner, Peter Stafford, Dennis and Terence McKenna, Peter Gorman, Timothy Leary, Richard Alpert (Baba Ram Dass), Ralph Metzner, tc., and many others.
We all paid them to teach us what they learned and what we wuld learn from them. On the other hand they all went to school all of their lives to learn what they taught us..
And nothing they taught was free, except for private conversations with them at these conferences where we all got to known, learn, love and respect each other for the knowledge we grew to love so much that we soon shared between us.
People go to school to get an education, to better their lives, to support a family, to buy a home, or a farm, where pople do not want others trespasing on what they earned during their lives.
I sell four cd,s on my web site. and two books. Magic Mushrooms of the PNW (originally $3.00 for almost 20 years, now 15.00 with color) and Mmagic Mushrooms of the Hawaiian Islands.
I make money off of t-shirts I have hand painted in Thailand. I have dozens of them at home but i only offer a few at a time here at this site or a few others. I do not push my t-shirts or hand painted silk shroom batiks of which I have many in stock on others. I have suitcases of them inmy closets.. I only sell a few when i feel like it.
I also get paid to lecture every now and then. In fact, for each of the five papers I am currently writing at the University here in bangkok, I get ten thoudand baht formthe Thai Governments school funding, however I get only $12.50 an hour here for a lecture.
At the Hua Hin conference I got $four hundred dollars.
So while nothing is really free, This site is and so is the mushroomjohn's shroom world, which has the largest free collection of magic shroom photos in the world.
What is unique is that the shroomery is not selling my photos or posts to keep their site open. They make their money honestly from the sponsors whose endorsements and sales help keep the shroomery here for us all.
My complaint with hippie is I want my images removed from his site since he is selling archived cd's of his site and my pictures are not his right to sell on those cd's.
Have a shroomy day.
I have actually been spending more money per day while here on computers than I am for rent, food, motorcycle and gas, and in two days I have one person from England arriving for five days at five hundred dolllars/
I will have to give him a free trip here because the one day of rain ion 14 has produced no shrooms. In two days is the full moon party and he will join me after.
Then on the 8th of July, Milo, who discovered the Pink Buffalo strain will join my tour for the fourth time. We will be here five days and then three in Bangkok and then 6 in Angkor Wat. Then he eaves and I go tot he University for a eek and thenone more month on Samuui.
Yesterday was the first day I got to swim since my motorcycle burn has settled down to a small scab.
