What is more miraculous?

Seems I have been catching flak for understanding the meaning of words. (Is a literate American an oxymoron?) Help me or my detractors to better understand one another.

Just as I thought, no response. Can't answer a simple, direct question.

Your sentence is a statement; not a question.
Which part is confusing, the water or the earth? Are these substances unknown on your planet?

My answer is: Both.
Both are equally miraculous events, right along side with the fact that horses exist. And about a billion other things.
As for why this question is confusing; he's probably confused because you've taken a very subjectively used term (miraculous) and attempted to limit it to a "black and white" categorization.

Walking on earth might be miraculous to a fish or a paraplegic, but that's about it.

Walking on water may not be miraculous at all, i have never seen it happen, i cannot judge if it is possible or not. Therefor it stands only as a possibilitiy. I do know however that i am here, now, sitting... or walking on this earth.
Walking on earth must as it stands... be the most miraculous between the two.

-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I know what was written (I can actually read and understand the given meaning of words), but it made no sense. Your comment does absolutely nothing to clarify, now does it? How can a common activity be more amazing than an an uncommon or impossible activity? To be miraculous means to defy the normal laws of physics as we understand them. Should we redefine words on-the-fly? Will that help to better communication?
Seems it is nearly impossible (as usual) for most here to give a straight answer to a basic question. I do not know if the group is being deliberately obtuse or just not grounded in reality.

Your post:
Quote:
Quote:
"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth."
For a "master", he shows little understanding of common words. A miracle is "An event that appears inexplicable by the laws of nature and so is held to be supernatural in origin or an act of God."
Walking on the ground is totally explicable by the laws of nature and is not unusual; whereas no human being can demonstrate waking on liquid water.
Very deep.
Notice that he does not say that one is more miraculous than the other. It could be read that way (by you), but that's not what was meant. He is saying that life is a miracle. Many would agree.
It's pointless to argue about this and you know it.

Some bugs can walk on water. The jesus lizard can walk on water. But the fact that they exist is a miracle in itself.
It is not a simple, direct question at all, Swami. Both are very miraculous.

Some bugs can walk on water. The jesus lizard can walk on water. They were not talking about bugs and lizard, but men.
It is not a simple, direct question at all, Swami. Hmm, let's see: choosing which is more likely; something seen and experienced every day or something never seen? I asked 10 people at the gym and none had trouble answering. Guess maybe because they are fit and drug-free...
What would be a simpler question?
Both are very miraculous. To be miraculous means to be outside the norm, to be uncommon. So a common and an uncommon activity are equally uncommon? Is that supposed to be deep?
Guess it is time to start the "Swami Walk-On-Water Challenge."
I will pay anyone $20,000 who can walk barefoot and upright on liquid water over six foot deep wearing only a bathing suit. No underwater support or floatation device may be used. The claimant must stay on the surface for thirty seconds and the water may not touch the participant's knees at any time.
I doubt anyone will make a reciprocal offer for me to walk on the earth. (Even though equally amazing!)

I think what they are getting at is that it is a miracle to be alive and walking. here's where the different point of view comes in, even though walking on earth is seen everyday, it can still be seen as some as a miracle. if you believe in chance, then out of all of the possiblities, being alive as we are now as the situation that actually transpired would indeed seem to be a miracle to some.
now as far as it being extraordinary...men walking on water would take the cake.
