thank you for that info. i was wondering however what would be the best substrate medium for large scale growing?
could i use brf/verm as this medium or should i use something else?

If you want to go bulk for the first time, Wheat straw is the easiest way. Just get a large enough amout and put it in a pillow case and pasturize it for about an hour. Then drain, let cool and after laying a thin layer of vermiculite down in your growing pan put a layer of wheat straw down, then break up your cake and sprinkle pieces all over that layer. Now place another layer of wheat straw on top of that, and repeat these two steps until the last layer is wheatstraw. Put a piece of plastic with holes for air exchange ( use a cheap plastic dropcloth) over the container and press down firmly to "sandwich it all down good". Place a clean weight on top of this cover and put the whole thing back in the dark for about a week. When its fully colonized take the plastic wrap off and put it in a growing chamber with some type of humidity set-up(perlite is pretty easy) and start giving it light.Adding a casing layer is optional, if yo do, my friend has noticed that just sprinkling a tiny amount on top is all you really need.

I suggest chopping the straw in length of about 3 inches. It really is a pain in the ass, but it shortens your colonization time and allows the straw to hold a lot more water. The first time I played with straw, all I could grow was contaminants; As soon as chopping was involved, naught but mushrooms!
