I don’t see the invading forces as having many rights. If you are invading, you are fair game.

Let’s not both sides this. One side is right and one side is evil. There should be no difficultly in determining who is the bad guy here. Let’s stop worrying about the poor Russian soldiers and worry about what they are doing to a country they invaded and are currently destroying.

I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with some of you.

Luckily there are sane people out there condemning these crimes across the board, and see the moral imperative of consistency on this front, like the director of Human Rights Watch:

https://twitter.com/astroehlein/status/1511795376080232454?s=21&t=XNAZqbLl6cykFIcm4jIJAA

Take, for example, todays news about the UN suspending Russia from the Human Rights Council. This would be a solid development if not for the fact that the very nation churning out story after story regarding this stunning rebuke of Russia did itself pull out of the HRC citing political bias.

Do you not understand that by us and our allies not living up to this standard, the one we demand of the world behind the barrel of a gun, it seriously dampens the effect of our enemies breaking said standard? You should be outraged, if not for the sake of basic human decency, then at least because it seriously undermines the US’ position on damn near everything.

We’ve also not spent pages discussing the war crimes on  ideo that have been circulating, one where Ukrainian soldiers execute a surrendered Russian troop, another where Ukrainian soldiers take the phone off a beaten Russian soldier and call his girlfriend and tell her to find a new boyfriend because they’re gonna maim/kill this guy.

Of course these war crimes are just a fact of life.

Both instances are condemnable, no doubt, but there's a huge difference between killing invaders after they surrender vs being an invader and torturing the locals before killing them. It makes sense that the latter would generate more discussion.

I didn’t watch Stable Chamberlain’s war porn. (What kind of sick fuck would post video like that?) but they did discuss the incident on BBC. The Russian was severely injured. Sounds like the Ukrainians did what any humane person would do if they found an injured animal, and put it out of its misery. Taking care of an injured soldier is a huge burden. His dead Russian corpse is fertilizer. It’s a win win situation.

There’s a real easy solution to this problem. Russian troops simply have to leave Ukraine.

Look it’s easy to deal with these conflicting values. Just remember that all that is happening is entirely the fault of the Russians and enjoy the moral clarity.

There’s a bunch of Russians after a battle who appear to be dead. One of them turns out to be still breathing, and a Ukrainian finishes him off.

I watched it , the Russian soldier was laying in a pool of blood having convulsions . I guess whatever they did to cause that and all the other guys to die right away was legal though sooo it was like  a 95% legal war killing in my opinion .
I would of just let him die slowly    , why waste a bullet ?

Here's an interesting article from what appears to be a Ukrainian paper.

Special Forces Regiment SAFARI Begins Clearing Operation in Bucha from Saboteurs and Accomplices of Russia - National Police
2 April 2022
Quote:
Special forces have begun a clearing operation in the city of Bucha in the Kyiv region, which has been liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The city is being cleared from saboteurs and accomplices of Russian forces.

I'm a bit suspicious, so I'll try to find out more about that website...

It seems the site LB.ua's been around since 2009, and has a very large viwership, including accounts on both Facebook and Twitter.  It's a real site!

So this appears to be evidence that Ukraine is responsible for the civilian deaths in Bucha based on the date of the article.

Edit:  I suspect the article won't be there for too long, so I downloaded a copy to my computer.

Still butthurt after getting called out?

Let's be clear here, you posted a graphic pic of dead bodies. No problem.

What YOU did next was to try and score a cheap laugh by saying Falcon loves the smell of charred babies in the morning. That's why you were called a sick fuck. It's all about the context. Get over it, own your vulgar statement for what it is, and grow up.

Normally I'd say of course not as you think you know everything, yet your statement proves what a stupid liar you really are as how could you know it was 'war porn' if you never watched it?!

Well at least you watched it. Next time pay attention though as the Russians had their hands tied behind their back and were shot in the head by the Ukrainians, 95% like a war crime, similar to the civilian executions 7 miles away in Bucha.

Well if you did you might start to question the hysterical narrative from the dorks posting that assume to know everything.

The problem they have though is that they're either unable or unwilling or just too arrogant to apply any critical thinking as that would mean they'd have to admit they got it wrong, and that isn't ever going to happen.

Remember, there's no need to join the dork crowd.

dork: noun. a contemptible, socially inept person.

That doesn't say both sides are investigating Buchra.  It says the UN has staff in seven offices on both sides of the contact line.

I'd be VERY surprised if you found any evidence indicating that they are allowing Russia to participate in the Buchra investigation.

Right, it doesn't explicitly say that. Sorry, right now  i'm not able to find it, but i'll try to.

On a side note, Russia is an important member of UN...

The US just proposed a resolution to the United Nations’ General Assembly to suspend Russia from the UN Human Rights Council. The resolution passed, receiving 93 votes, with 24 members opposed and 58 abstaining.  That should make it a little easier for the West to get away with war crimes.  :smirk:

iggyhiggy said:
But I'd be VERY surprised if you found any evidence indicating that the ICJ in NOT allowing Russia to participate in the Buchra investigation.

I couldn't find any evidence that the ICJ is even involved in the investigation.

As the link I gave, ICJ called for the investigation. I think there will be the investigation. If you ask me, the possible exclusion of Russia due to its expulsion from the Human Right Council would put a shadow on the reliability of the invesigation.
And if you also ask me, i find it very unfair that USA still are in the HRC considered all the violation in the past. But here we should question the whole functioning of the UN, wich could be interesting but OT

About the torture and execution of Russian prisoners by UA army, i belive it should be obvious (but it seems it isn't) that they are warcrimes too and should be investigated and possibly sentenced. Human treatment to prisoners must be guaranted and once they're prisoners they're under your responsibility

Not sure if I miss the point...why shouldn't I mention? they are who actually started the first investigation.

If it's a joke about USA (and Russia) not being part of it...well it doesn't depend on me, but it doesn't even surprise, considering they are quite disposed  for human right violation

Yes, there will be an investigation, but as I knew before the investigation started, it will NOT include Russia, nor anyone that the US thinks might find Russia innocent if that's what the facts uncover.

I've been following international affairs long enough to know the US/West always puts blame on its enemies for things it didn't do.  For example, when Syria was finally winning the war, the US accused them of launching a chemical attack.  People who knew this was highly unlikely were quickly shot down from mainstream news (watch the very short video here).

iggyhiggy said:

Yes, of course, but the UN is largely now a US dominated forum.  Don't believe me?  Serbia just said it was blackmailed into voting Russia out of the HRC:

Serbia says it was blackmailed over UN vote
Quote:
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that his country has been pressured under the threat of sanctions to back Russia’s suspension from the UN Human Rights Council.
