Intelligence suggests 'environmental' factor sickened Abramovich, Ukrainian negotiators -U.S. official

A U.S. official said on Monday that intelligence suggests the sickening of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and Ukrainian peace negotiators was due to an environmental factor, not poisoning.

According to two consulted CW experts and a doctor, the symptoms were most consistent with variants of porphyrin, organophosphates, or bicyclic substances. A definitive determination was not possible due to the absence of specialized laboratory equipment near the victims.

Sounds a lot more detailed than “ intelligence” from the US.  No government wants to scare people away from negotiations right now.

One of the victims is Roman Abromavitch, who is acting as a go between for zelensky and Putin.

Falcon is blindly trusting the US government for information about war right now.    Who has more incentive to lie, the US or a new source that waited weeks to reveal this when they could have just cashed in on the story earlier?

The US is pushing zelensky to negotiate away eastern Ukraine in return for peace. Zelensky isn’t budging. It’s funny how some people here think Ukraine is just a proxy war between the west and Russia, when literally every indication is that the west just wants to avoid conflict at all costs.

Putin is not interested in negotiating. If he was he wouldn’t have hidden his plan to invade until the last second. He wants control of Ukraine. Zelensky has publicly called for face to face negotiations for weeks and Putin just ignores him.

Turns out Putin has his own Neo-nazi militia. Many of the “little green men of crimea” were part of the Wagner group, named after Hitlers favorite composer.

I don't know what you're talking about, and we both know you can't be specific.

Meanwhile, I previously mentioned that I know a good number of Russians and Ukrainians here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and this weekend I met a Ukrainian with a sister in Mariupol (yes, the Mariupol chopstick and I have been posting about).

He said his sister tried to flee the city on a bus when a humanitarian corridor was opened up, but were prevented from doing so by the local Nazis.  When the residents pleaded to at least let their children go, the Nazis shot the bus tires.

Colonel Macgregor appears to have been right about what is going on there.  This of course, will all come out once the conflict ends, and I'm still struggling to understand what America's end game will be when the truth comes out.

Then again, the censorship in this country and the entire Western world is the most extreme I've ever seen in my life.  I just did a search for Colonel Macgregor, and the vitriol against him is high, and any videos that come out proving what he's saying is true have been censored by YouTube and Twitter.  Simply incredible.

Dude, he's already laid his cards on the table.  We knew exactly what he wanted before the war even started.  But the US refuses to give up on Crimea, as we've already spent billions trying to take control of it, and we're not going to let it go without a huge fight.

You’re a totally unbiased source and I believe all your stories and reports

Even if your made up story were true, the question remains: who is to blame for completely destroying Mariupol?

You know things aren’t right when you have to turn to Fox News for information, but if they’re on the money they’re on the money, same with Tucker Carlson.
Takes a lot of balls to get on that network saying these things.
Zelensky has been stooged by the U.S., it’ll be interesting to see what he thinks and says after he finally does what he should have done from the start. I expect he’ll be giving the west a deserved spray

After hearing abramovitch’s description of the symptoms he had, this environmental exposure excuse is nonsense. The dude couldn’t see for a few hours and his skin was peeling off.

I'm not sure he was on the money, that video now 29 days old and none of what the expert has said has actually happened.

While the predictions aged like milk, I do think there are some good points. Of course, I don't know why Americans would be concerned about Ukranian lives when we never cared about Iraq or Afghanistan.

We do care. But only because they're white Europeans.

And, anybody who isn't young knows we've always been against Russia.

There’s been some good discussion on possible reasons why this conflict is getting a lot more coverage than others. A huge part is that people are biased towards caring about people “like them”. Race is one of many factors that people subconsciously conflate with economic status and democracy. Kind of like when people sometimes describe “good neighborhoods” and “bad neighborhoods”.

Quote:
What makes this conflict so hard for the Western psyche to stomach is that, as Daniel Hannan from The Telegraph wrote, the white Ukrainians we see on TV are “just like us.” They “have Netflix” and “Instagram accounts.” They are not impoverished. They are middle class. As one French commentator noted, “We are talking about Europeans leaving in cars that look like ours to save their lives.”…

Why are Ukrainians escaping Russian bombs given such safe, secure passage and housing but Syrians escaping those same Russian bombs are not? Perhaps we should be encouraging Syrians and Afghans to open Netflix accounts? Buy fancier cars? Post more pictures on Instagram? The answer, of course, is simple. Maybe if Syrians were "just like us," they would receive a more compassionate welcome in Europe and the West.

How we see people in crisis begins with the journalists and pundits who deliver the news. Members of the media must stop looking down on other countries and people suffering war, whose conflicts they see as inevitable. We would do better to identify our own biases so we can be more tolerant and accepting of the suffering of others based on their experiences, not on the color of their skin.
