Yeah holy fuck..NEVER take furniture from the curb. Had to explicitly tell my roommates this(they are country folk, and freaked out when they saw the plethora of cool high quality furniture on the curbs here)- for a couple weeks before we got our ginormous house they were staying in my studio apartment while they were moving and looking for places. I told them that they could do whatever the fuck they wanted BUT bring in any furniture from the curb(one of them is a woodworking artist so it was a big line in the sand)  - the hood I lived in then when was full of that kind of stuff, and thrift stores too that were putting out stuff.

Nope nope nope, not even worth the savings - buy a cheap memory foam mattress from amazon, it will last you the year at least and be comfy,it might not last 5-10 years, but 200 dollars is more than worth it for a year while you save up for a really good one.

I have a tempurpedic mattress I bought on sale (display model) from Mattess Firm for $3,000. With 2 tempurpedic pillows.  I keep it at my moms house in the guest bedroom

At my house I have a memory foam Serta Matress that came with 2 memory foam pillows and a hydraulic bed frame that lifts the foot and head of the bed with a remote. I bought this whole kit for $1000 from HH Greg when they had a clearance sale.

We spend so much time in our beds that it’s a great investment when spending a little extra on comfort

I bought some "Lu-something", it wasn't cheap but best I ever had. Can't remember the name and I am not at home to take a look, but I am sure that starting with "L".

I think you need to spend around €500 minimum per single sized mattress to get anything decent that will last as well

I have never been long term happy with a budget mattress

It only cost $300 on sale from Amazon, but I bought a "tea infused memory foam mattress that far exceeded my expectations.

I've spent upwards of a grand a couple times on top of the line conventional mattresses, and the quality of the $300 one is leaps and bounds beyond it.

Have always bought queen size for reference.

I slept on a regular mattress for my whole life up until a few years ago. For some reason I just got fed up with it.

So I tossed it out and started sleeping in a hammock for about a year. Pretty comfortable. Then when Hurricane Harvey flooded us out I had to tear out all the walls. Someone who was helping us must've thrown away the eyebolts I had in the studs for stringing my hammock up, because they disappeared. Didn't bother fucking with a new mount at the time because of all the other shit going down so I got the old Coleman cot out of the garage.

Slept in the cot for 6-8 months, I liked it while it lasted, up until it started sagging real bad. (those aren't meant for long term use by the way). So I robbed the thin foam pad off of it and just laid it down on the ground and haven't looked back. I sleep really good on the ground actually. I enjoy not having something envelop me like a mattress does. Even the hammock did it to an extent. There's a certain relaxation that comes with having to spread out comfortably on a flat hard surface. Kind of hard to explain really. I highly recommend it. Not to mention, it's cheap, and the ground is every where so you're never too far away from bed!

TL;DR I transitioned from mattress, to hammock, to a cot, to sleeping on the ground and have enjoyed my sleep more ever since. You oughta give it a try.

Interesting you mention that.
When I first moved across the country, I bought a walmart air mattress, but I popped it within a week by "horseplaying" on it when the tag clearly said no horseplay. :lol:

Once that happened I just started sleeping on the floor for the first time in my life. I'd put a comforter down, and indeed that was the best sleep I've gotten in my life. Seemed like it was quite beneficial to my back and neck as well. The 4 months I spent living in the forest recently was pretty much the same deal. Comforter on the forest floor was wonderful. Although I did have a small 1970's camper up there that had a decent little bed, but I must have only used it 5 times when we had unusually cold nights.

If you are obese like me, your best option other than buying a bed as expensive as a small car is getting a coldfoam mattress of density 0.3-0.4 and placing upon it a topper of memory foam.

The results are epic, if you are much overweight, like 120+kg/250+lbs, thats the way to go.

I just bought a king size mattress by Leesa.  I went with their higher end Sapira model.  Hands down the best purchase I’ve made in a very long time. 


I would wait few weeks.  Don’t forget Black Friday and cyber Monday are right around the corner.  Buying now vs waiting 3 weeks will cost you hundreds of dollars more.

I made a mistake an got a dog infestation, so they ate the couch I sleep on.

Supposed to get a new bed maybe, may try casper

That is one of my dogs. I do miss cushions
giving them the couch, its dead. Very much like metal and despaire mixed with puppies, if you are into that.

I got a Casper foam mattress years ago.  Was good, not great.  Even though it holds its shape over time, eventually it started bothering my lower back.  I switched to a Japanese style futon on a tatami mat.  I find the stiffer sleeping surface does wonders for my lower back.  If you like soft beds, avoid this combination at all costs, this makes the hardest mattress feel like lying on a cloud.  If you prefer sleeping close to the floor, with your feet, hips, shoulders and head all aligned, this is the way to go.  I am a back sleeper, not sure this would work well for a side sleeper.
