Foam mattress quirk

I bought a new foam Matress back in November, it has layers one in which is "cool gel" and another for air flow, there's more but...

So during the cold months the bed stayed cool and so did I even with the heater on and multiple blankets. It seems in the past 20 days or so with it getting hotter outside I been cooking in the thing. I don't get it, I have the air conditioner on and keep it nice and cool, I have a fan in my room for more air flow and yet I'm finding my self tossing and getting up for drinks. Why is this bed cool in a warm environment and sweaty hot in a cool one?

I like to sleep on mmy back but after laying in one spot for so long I get uncomfortable and have to flop over to a (not an) cool spot, i've even quit touching myself before bed to keep the heat generated minimal. That's right I said it.

I've had the same issue with my temperpedic. Its supposed to have some cooling thing(I'm always warm and sweaty no matter what, part of the reason I bought it) but doesn't seem to work too well.

I usually put my box fan on top of my monos pointed at the bed to keep cool.
Btw, do your thang in the bathroom and then the bed feels much cooler

Watching this thread for any ideas .

the best bed is the ones made of silk on the outside for coolness.  anything cottony or foamy is going to be hot.  That gel shit is like a solid, which is like brick, which absorbs heat and cold easily.  what u really want is something that 'insulates' you from the surrounding air, but the catch is your body creates heat.

your best bet might be a wool pillow top for the bed, since wool wicks moisture away it will keep u cool in the summer, and obviously warm in the winter.

altho your body sweats to keep u warm so im not actually sure how wool helps, wouldnt the wetness keep u cooler than being dry, i get evaporation cools u but i mean u are only going to sweat before u just stop sweating

Speaking of moisture wicking, I'm gonna get a set of linen sheets, I been reading up on them and they are apparently better than cotton, durable, soft, and even read they been known to treat illnesses. Aside from linen, a box fan is a must too. Once I purchased my foam bed I discovered another type of material at the store. The sales chick had a saying, you sleep in foam, you sleep on latex, meaning you dont get that common sinking effect, that and latex stays cool because of the material, these two things are enough to make me get a latex next time I go shopping.
