Cryotubes for long-term storage of cultures and sending myc in letters.
100 pieces for 10€ from china. They come unsterilized, but are easily filled with a syringe and then sterilized.

Nice catch. Would be ideal for culture storage in distilled water.

Did my first A2G inoculation last night!! And punched out a couple more T1 from a germ plate...

I like this upside down lego block for holding my tools in the SAB while I am working.

My scalpel is a "street sweeper", a thin strip of metal which falls of the brushes from street sweeper vehicles... Can be sharpened to a point.

My inoculation loop is a bottle brush from dollar tree. I want to make one with nichrome wire and a borosilicate stir rod.

My agar punch is a metal tube which used to be the outside of a tire pressure gauge.  I am very excited about Smart Attacks LAGM participation prize, the punch tool.  Hell yeah!!!

That thing looks fancy. It has a chamber where the bag rests, yes?

Wow guys, I wonder what bags you all are using for your vacuum sealer. I've been using mine for years, I've never popped a bag. And my plastic looks way too thick to pierce. I just get long rolls of 11" wide on ebay. Nothing special.

Today I learned how to make rectangle bricks of 6 ounces, by forcing them into a form as it vacuumed. Pretty cool.

Yep, holds a roll and has a cutter as well.

My bags are thick as well, I went with 3mil from webstaurantstore.

I built a trolly (well its a dolly because it doesnt have a handle) so that I could keep all my cult stuff in the bedroom and still get to the cupboards.  The bedroom is the only room in the house with air conditioning.

Its a bit sad that at the moment all my stuff fits in one big tub.  I lost so many shoeboxes to trich in January with the heatwave.  I've got 12 grain jars on the go now so hopefully I'll recover soon.

Finally finished my flow hood. 36x24. I still have to finish building the desk which will feature a stainless steel working surface (thin sheet of stainless steel laminated on top of the wood base), and the hood will be recessed a bit so that the level of the working surface is perfectly parallel with the bottom of the actual airflow output and not the bottom of the face frame. Won't be able to get to that or use it for another week and a half but time goes by quick. Can't wait to use this thing and increase my reliability.

That’s awesome, but you’re a testament to what can be done without.

Vacuum bags seems like a good idea but I and others have had problems In the pass.

When you load the bag with cracker dry shrooms and put the bag in a vacuum the dried shrooms has a way of punching small pin holes in the plastic and your shrooms will go soft.

Even double bags are a problem..

I may have posted this folding scalpel at some point prior, but I’ve just now re-acknowledged it. I had to buy larger blades for it, and I’ve used it for exactly nothing.
They’re still neat and aren’t prohibitively expensive.

For what mycological purpose are pictured swabs?

For collecting spores from Melmac and other PE non printing varieties.  Will they not work for this? I've only ever taken a regular spore print on foil.

Most people use individually packaged sterile swabs to lessen the contamination factor. Just a sterile culture technique freak out. Don’t mind me.

You will have to sterilize those swabs prior to using them.
Wrap them in tinfoil and pc them for 30 minutes at 15psi.

Yes, yes, oh yes! LOL it's always bugged me seeing that lip

air flow is in my blood.
