there's some scientific conversation that happens in here, but it's a side topic. Maybe the science and technology subforum is a better place for specifics, or maybe not. I didn't mess with the covid subforum much either after looking at it. It felt like a more extreme combo of conspiracy vs hard facts, and the pub seems like a friendlier place to make differences clearer and sort them out a bit. Some people don't have any real education in science or math, but they can still come in here and have some kind of discussion about it. There's butthurt and arguments, but that's what happens when alcohol is involved while people work through hard to understand topics that suddenly interest and effect everyone. At least it declutters the pub's previous mess of covid threads and makes moderation easier.

I think it's only the legal drugs that make people into assholes right? Benzos and Alcohol; the combo for the perfect storm of anger.

I don't think I ever met a high person on anything other than stimulants that wasn't at least fairly placid...

meh. it just wasn't a great joke. the stimulants are mostly illegal, and they definitely turn people into psychotic assholes that are at least as bad as people on benzos and alcohol. I've definitely met heavy opioid users that were jerks too, but I think it had to do with either chronic addiction or withdrawals. I generally don't have problems with marihuana users or other psychedelics users, though I haven't been around many people using RCs. I'm sure we get a mix in the pub.

oh yeah, and get your booster if you haven't. the data was showing that it raised effective neutralizing antibody titers against omicron by a lot with Pfizer, and I'm sure it'll help with the other vaccines as well.

Well it's finally happened. I lost two family members early in the pandemic to cov. I finally gave caught covid. Fully vaxed, masked more often than not.

My breath is a little short, coughing like I took a fat rip. This shit sucks. May go to the ER if I can't breathe a little better soon.

I caught it in the early days and it fucking plastered me. I stayed in bed and rode it out + quarantine for two weeks.

Only time I've been to the ER is with a piece of my body hanging off or with a serious head injury. Once it was both.

Seems some people (not insinuating anyone here does, just from what I've heard) go there if they sneeze one too many times...

Yes. At least here in Texas. There are virtually no restrictions to think of. They literally didn't even require healthcare workers to get the covid vaccine until this month here

I don't wanna go but I feel like I'm drowning and my doc won't let me go there. He thinks it's likely pneumonia, so I'd get sent there for x-rays anyway

Better to get tested man. waiting won't help, and they can start some treatments for what ever is causing it. There's no reason to fuck around.

EDIT: your doc doesn't want people in his clinic exposed to covid.
