I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

A more idealistic me would have said we're waiting for trump and his homies to all end up in matching shiny bracelets but these days there's really no justice for the rich so at best maybe a low level stooge or two will get a legal smack on the nose

As far as "passionate addiction" to trump, the lack of self-awareness is hillarious but seems common in most trumpies (I know, I'm sure you totally "don't identify with either side").

The people who voted Trump out of office, shunned him from social media, went about their lives... those are sad pitiful Trump orgy people.

The tens of millions draping his name all over their body, buying flags with his name on it, plastering their homes and lawns and cars and billboards with his name even many months after his loss, making pilgrimages and losing their lives from COVID to attend his worship rallies in person... Well let's not talk about them, the democrats are the issue here!

It truly is baffling how utterly out of touch people can be with reality.

Trump obeyed The Establishment for 4 straight years, that doesn't land US Presidents in prison. It would set a horrible precedent if he did go to prison, he's like all former US Presidents, it's an untouchable.

I don't think we even know the full story with the 1/6 event, therefore it's a waste of time to discuss or debate the surface story.

I'm pretty sure we know very close to the full story by now. The only thing we don't know is exactly how many GOP elected officials were part of it and to what extent. It's almost certainly more than we think, based on the fact that republicans vowed to retaliate against any tech companies that comply with a subpoena from democrats.

Like, McCarthy literally said that as soon as republicans retake the house, they will explicitly target any tech companies that follow the law and submit to a legal subpoena. Which is an interesting rabbit hole, because lately, I've found republicans openly violating the law while pretending the law is different. Like those tiny R-Cali towns that send cops after homeless people: It's not illegal to pitch a tent on the street in California. The state changed the law. Republicans disagree, because to them, there is a fundamental law that is greater than the actual law, and by that law, homelessness is a crime.

The reason nobody will face any consequences for 1/6 has nothing to do with presidential prosecution precedent. Similar with shit that past president did. It's about polarization. It was about polarization with Bush, it was about polarization with Obama, basically every president since Nixon has been untouchable because at least 40% of the country will ALWAYS be on their side. Trump wasn't wrong when he said he could shoot a man in broad daylight and get away with it, but it's because literally 40% of the country could watch him do it on live TV, watch him confess, and still truly believe that he is innocent.
