Sisters pregnant at 12, 14, and 16. mother blames the school.
    #4210358 - 05/23/05 04:11 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

London Telegraph ^ | May 25, 2005 | Hugh Davies

Sisters pregnant at 12, 14 and 16. So what does their mother do? She blames the school
Three sisters have each had children while still at school, the youngest at the age of 12.

Jemma, Jade and Natasha Williams, who receive benefits totalling more than ?31,000 a year, are raising their babies alone after they became pregnant within three months of each other.

The sisters, aged 12, 14 and 16 when they gave birth, live in Derby with their twice-divorced mother, who holds the education system responsible for their plight.

"I blame the schools - sex education for young girls should be better," said Julie Atkins, 38. "More and more kids are getting pregnant younger and younger and sex education needs to start a lot earlier.

"If I could turn the clock back I would definitely prefer them to not have children as their education is so important. They've all ruined their lives because they are all too young to have children."

Jemma, the youngest sister, was the first to become pregnant, giving birth to her son T-Jay in February last year. Then, in November, Natasha, 16, who had already had two miscarriages and an abortion, had Amani. The next month, Jade, 14, gave birth to daughter Lita.

Jemma and Jade, who is about to take her GCSEs, are still in school.

The family lives rent-free in a three-bedroom council house, which they claim is too cramped. Their mother claims benefit for Jade and Jemma, now 15, as well as for their children. However, she said that day-to-day life was a struggle.

"It's really difficult to survive on what we have," she said. "My average shopping bill is ?90 a week, and then there's all that extra stuff like toys, nappies and medicine.

"The house is far too small. I have to share a bedroom with Natasha and Amani which is very cramped. Hopefully we may be able to get a bigger house, but who knows?"

Mrs Atkins, who had her first child at 20, said she was astonished that her daughters had become pregnant so young. "It just doesn't seem possible," she said.

"I was so shocked when I found out about Jemma. She thought I would hit the roof and didn't tell me for seven months. I only found out when I took her to buy a new bra and as she was being measured I saw her huge bump."

Jemma said: "I didn't tell anyone because I was too scared and didn't know what to do. I only told my boyfriend, who was 14 at the time, but I didn't want to have an abortion.

"He was my first love. He was great to start with, but he's got a new girlfriend now. I was so frightened when I went into hospital to have my baby. It was so painful and I was in labour for three days."

Jade said she had been determined not to do the same, after seeing all the dirty nappies and her sister enduring sleepless nights. But she became pregnant after "a one-night stand".

She said: "It was just one of those things really. I wasn't using contraception and I suppose I just thought it wouldn't happen to me."

Natasha said her pregnancy, while unplanned, had pleased her. "I don't really want to be anything but a full-time mum," she said.

The father, 38, came to see the child "from time to time", but "he's Asian and still lives with his parents, so they don't know about me or Amani".

Earlier this year, the Government's tax and benefit system was said to be responsible for making Britain the single-parent capital of the world.

The Centre for Policy Studies think-tank said married couples on average weekly salaries were only ?1 better off than single mothers who never worked and had no contact with the father of their children.

"Sisters pregnant at 12, 14, and 16. mother blames anyone but herself."

Sex education? GIVE ME A BREAK!

What happened to the day and age when kids learned about sex from their parents, whom they (hopefully) trust a great deal more than they trust their schoolteachers?

Parents can't admit when they're bad parents.

The poor things.  Imagine living in a three bedroom house for free.  What hard lives they seem to have.

:rotfl:  The UK is so "enlightened" and "progressive" it sounds like.

It's almost as bad in the U.S.  In my state I could not work, not do anything at all, give away all of my assets, and I could live in a place for free, get free food, get free medical care, and get free help for school.

I should just go on welfare.

I highly doubt that.

I thought things like this only happened in the U.S. Glad to see other countries are catching up to us.

Free Housing through HUD
Free Food Stamps from the federal government
Free Medical Care through Medicaid
And my state gives money to poor people if they go to school

Come to PA and find out if you don't believe me. I know several people who just don't feel like working, so they get all that free shit.

What's this mother complaining about? At least now, she doesn't have to explain where babies come from.

So.. Jemma's the youngest, at 12, and the older two share a room with their mother. O..k..

And Natasha.. the one not noted as still doing the school thing, got knocked up by a 38 year old Asian dude. Let's assume since the youngest is going for that school thing the middle one is too, so Natasha would be 16, but really. When you're 38, 14 or 16, it doesn't really matter..

which would leave Jade as the one who got knocked up after a 'one-night stand'. at.. 14.

Damn them's some whores. They think they deserve MORE? Hell no. They may not be comfortable, but why the fuck should they be? There's no reason you should expect to live comfortably AND totally irresponsibly at the same time. I'm sure they want for a lot, but goddamn. Maybe they'll THINK before they act the next time.

But what am I saying. That would be admitting that they're responsible for their living conditions -- not that the government is negligent in providing for them. Personal responsiblity is bad!

pfft. Her daughters get her a FREE 3 bedroom house as well as $39,000 US a year without a single one of them lifting a finger. Thats pretty good considering the average family spends about $15-20,000 a year on a 3 bedroom house (here in the US at least).

Factor that in and they are living the equivalent lifestyle of a hard-working family bringing in $54,000 a year. Socialist policies harm the hard-working middle class and reward laziness.

heh, yeah my point is that she is not likely to think of herself as a bad mom as long as that kind of money is rolling in for free.  :smirk:  Obviously, if she never has to take personal responsibility, then she will never realize what she has done.

Yep, these guys are already becoming the poster family for "what's wrong with socialism"

As big of idiots as they all are, I'd still rather them be able to live in a house and get basic medical care...otherwise these types just get desperate, resort to crime and spread diesease...cuting them off just makes it worse, for many reasons.

People who bash socialism by pointing to people like this, rarely point to, say, George Soros, who made a billion dollars in one day by buying and selling currency. They rarely point to big profit corporations which operate prison-like sweat shops, while the foriegn owners sit in their mansions...

How bout the fact that 99%+ of the money supply is created by private banks?

How bout the fact that the monied class ensures a scarcity of jobs through interest rate policy?

Look, I'm all for working for a living. Capitalist scams are so disgusting that they make these welfare queens seem saintly. At least these people are real idiots, in need of care...

That said, holy fucking shit this is an extreme case.

And this is relevant...how?

Quote:

Actually, it's created by the federal reserve. Back when currency was created by local private banks, it was getting more and more valuable.

Evidence, please?

Correction: Corporatist scams are so disgusting they make these welfare queens seem saintly. But two wrongs don't make a right.

They don't need care. They need to learn some personal fucking responsibility.

That's bullshit. Soros didn't just make his money overnight. He may have made that much money is one day, but I guarantee he busted his ass to get the opportunity to make money like that.

Capitalism will always trump socialism/communism b/c capitalism breeds hard work and inventiveness.

What about cheating? It does breed that as well...

Not that I'm saying socialism/communism is a better choice
