Filter Patch Bags??
    #2743443 -

Hey,

A friend recently recommended me to this forum. I'm relatively new to growing mushrooms and very new to this message board as you can see.

What I wanted to know was more about the use of filter patch bags instead of jars. I'm quite tired of the PF Tek method and my buddy told me to check out this site to explore some alternatives. I did a search and didn't find much, but maybe I'm using the wrong term.

If anyone could point me in the right direction or explain to me what a filter patch bag is/how it works/where I can buy some I'd really appreciate it. Would be nice to never have to deal with jars again :gonzo:

Thanks!

associatedbag.com

Search for autoclave, I don't know if they have the ones with a patch though, but you can get as many free samples as you want, and they have free samples for almost everything there. Try it ouy

Compared to using half pint jars will I see a greater yield with this mycobag?

Right now I'm anywhere from 40-50g wet weight per jar...

as long as you don't fuck it up
you should
but yields are hard to predict
and can very greatly depending on what you do with that bag after it's colonized

Just to clarify:

Is using a filter patch bag (say from a vendor that caters to mushroom growing) a substitute for having to sterlize jars with a pressure cooker? Would I still need to put a compost into these bags, sterilize them and then innoculate them?

Is there any way at all around having to use a pressure cooker or boil?

Perhaps you would like to use WBS spawned to staw and/or poo? Check out some of the teks on this site, you'll find them useful.
