PEACE RIVER - Panaeolus Cyanescen * 1
    #27209294 -

Sup Shroomery Fam,

First time / Long time. Been lurking here for ages.

Growing peace river strain( a Panaeolus Cyanescens strain found in Florida along the peace river apparently) I’m in south Florida but acquired an agar plate through a trade.

Put 2 fully colonized jars into to an unmodded tub this week. (see photos)

I already added a layer of sub after mixing inoculated grain with substrate. (see below)

Didn’t realize there was any significant difference from Cubes to “Panaeolus Cyanescens” strains as I only have experience with fruiting Cubes... After reading some have seen some suggestions about adding a casing layer once the tub is fully colonized.

TBH I didnt read MUCH into this strain up until now haha. Just figured it was another variety of cubensis.

After reading a bit more I've seen some mixed reviews and contradictory suggestions on how to grow em....

Here are my questions:

Should I layer with substrate once the tub is fully colonized, or will the casing I put on top of the mixed sub/grain suffice?

If so, Should I wait to see pins before adding this layer or just once it all looks colonized?

In that case should I add that layer then immediately introduce fruiting conditions (flipping tub lid, fanning, misting, etc ) or let the mycelium colonize that layer then introduce fruiting conditions?

Other than that... Any major differences? Should fruiting conditions generally stay the same? Mist as needed, Keep on a 12 hour light cycle, fan for FAE, etc...

Have seen some info on pans, but nothing specific to Peace Rive variety.

Suggestions Or any insight on growing these? Has anyone eaten these or seen fruits from this strain?

Trip report on em? Microdosed with em?

Lmk fam.

Thanks!

The sub I originally used was primarily steer manure mixed with coco coir, vermiculite, worm casting, gypsum, kelp meal...

Ordering the following supplies to make casing:

Going to follow instructions here to make the casing:

Wish me luck!

Yes, this seems a bit scary haha. I guess every new thing you start on especially when it comes to Mycology seems quite the undertaking at first, but overall it seems simple enough.

Really want to make this happen though so going to put in the effort.

Lets see how it goes.

As far as pasteurizing this mix goes....
Would you just put all of this into a jar and double boil it?

Keeping at 130-160 for an hour or so?

I’ve seen quite a few peace river grows in the official pan thread. Not recently though but pans are mostly the same.

Packing jars full of hydrated sub or casing then putting them in hot water works fine. I use an instant pot and just set it for like 5 hours.

Prob a good thing you found this place for a few reasons. If you had managed to pull off a few fruits thinking they were cubes you would’ve been mind raped after eating them.

Nice!
I placed an order for what I need for casing.
Have some verm still left from making cvg sub recently.

Got some agar plates ready to transfer to grain with the same genetics so It'll come in handy when I transfer those over to tub as well.
Hoping this first round goes well. If not I'll give it another shot.
Excited to see these grow.

These jars colonized record speed for me. In about 7 days they were just about ready so I gave them a good shake. Day 9 I transferred to tub. Fastest colonization in my experience (which is limited) so far.
Wedges of agar that I moved to another plate all colonized very fast as well. Had to toss one due to contam, but the others are doing great.

Will post updates once the tub is ready for a casing layer.

Thanks

Once it's time to flush these after first round.

Do I add another casing layer when putting back into the tub for second/third/etc rounds or would that one layer of casing suffice through the rest of these flushed?
