light shouldnt be a factor in growth, it doesnt hurt or help the mushrooms. also i dont think a medium with only vermiculte will produce very high yields... theres no food for the mushrooms really you know?

When I use crumbled cakes in a verm casing, my results vary. The lowest on one flush from one 1/2 pint was about 4 grams dry and the highest was about 10-12, if I remember correctly. EQs.
YMMV

the food is in the substrate[the cake, in this case.] there is normally little to no nutrition in casings, to prevent competitor organisms such as molds, etc.

here's some pics of yields frompure verm. casings.
