ID Please - Russula brevips? (PNW)
    #26987790 - 10/15/20 11:51 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat:
Growing in the woods in Washington state under conifers, coming from the soil.

Gills:
White, attached, decurrent.

Stem:
4-5" tall, 2-3" thick, white, smooth, thick and solid.

Cap:
4 to 10" in the specimens I left behind, white, smooth, funnel-shaped.

Spore print color:
I'm trying to get one but so far none of the ones I have released spores. My guess is white based on gill color of all the ones I've seen (none had gills other than white)

Bruising:
Slightly bluish/greenish bruise on the stem at the place I cut the cap off.

Doesn't look quite right for russula to me buddy, could it be in lactarius maybe? Do the gills bleed when broken?

Neither the gills nor the cap produced any latex-like substance so that and the greenish bruise where cut made me think Russula brevips, which I know happen in the state both this way and when they become the lobster mushroom with the parasite.
