Will race ever not be a social construct?

We seem to have alot scientists looking at race through genetics....doesnt that, in itself, reinforce that construct? Not saying scientists are the Crème de la crème of humanity, but if they fall for it....what say for the simpletons?

Science has abandoned race in humans long ago.  Genetics has debunked the whole notion.

Looks like it is not eradicated or I am slow to your point?

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/race-is-a-social-construct-scientists-argue/

By Megan Gannon, LiveScience on February 5, 2016

More than 100 years ago, American sociologist W.E.B. Du Bois was concerned that race was being used as a biological explanation for what he understood to be social and cultural differences between different populations of people. He spoke out against the idea of "white" and "black" as discrete groups, claiming that these distinctions ignored the scope of human diversity.

Science would favor Du Bois. Today, the mainstream belief among scientists is that race is a social construct without biological meaning. And yet, you might still open a study on genetics in a major scientific journal and find categories like "white" and "black" being used as biological variables.

In an article published today (Feb. 4) in the journal Science, four scholars say racial categories are weak proxies for genetic diversity and need to be phased out. [Unraveling the Human Genome: 6 Molecular Milestones]

National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to put together a panel of experts across the biological and social sciences to come up with ways for researchers to shift away from the racial concept in genetics research.

"It's a concept we think is too crude to provide useful information, it's a concept that has social meaning that interferes in the scientific understanding of human genetic diversity and it's a concept that we are not the first to call upon moving away from," said Michael Yudell, a professor of public health at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Yudell said that modern genetics research is operating in a paradox, which is that race is understood to be a useful tool to elucidate human genetic diversity, but on the other hand, race is also understood to be a poorly defined marker of that diversity and an imprecise proxy for the relationship between ancestry and genetics.

"Essentially, I could not agree more with the authors," said Svante Pääbo, a biologist and director of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany, who worked on the Neanderthal genome but was not involved with the new paper.

"What the study of complete genomes from different parts of the world has shown is that even between Africa and Europe, for example, there is not a single absolute genetic difference, meaning no single variant where all Africans have one variant and all Europeans another one, even when recent migration is disregarded," Pääbo told Live Science. "It is all a question of differences in how frequent different variants are on different continents and in different regions."

In one example that demonstrated genetic differences were not fixed along racial lines, the full genomes of James Watson and Craig Venter, two famous American scientists of European ancestry, were compared to that of a Korean scientist, Seong-Jin Kim. It turned out that Watson (who, ironically, became ostracized in the scientific community after making racist remarks) and Venter shared fewer variations in their genetic sequences than they each shared with Kim.

Genetic variations do not really care about the way we construct our racial categories. The genetic differences between African tribes is larger than some African tribes and Europeans.

Oh yeah, the PLUMP thread
Sometimes, when you are Commander and Chief, in times of peril and disease, one must tweet about toddlers, please:

Facebook has removed a post by President Trump that featured a doctored video of two toddlers.
A Facebook spokesman told Business Insider on Friday a copyright complaint about the video prompted the removal of Trump's post.
Twitter on Thursday had marked the same post by Trump with a "manipulated media" tag because the video had been altered to look like a CNN report.
The copyright complaint appears to have been filed for Jukin Media, a company well-known for quickly snapping up the rights to viral videos.

Facebook on Friday removed a post by Donald Trump that featured a doctored version of a 2019 viral video that shows two toddlers.

The original video, which went viral last year, shows a Black child and white child running toward each other and embracing. But the altered version posted by Trump to Twitter and Facebook on Thursday is overlaid with a fake CNN graphic and edited to suggest news footage of the white child chasing the terrified Black child.

I am predicting a big confrontation in Tulsa. For whatever it's worth, the left is feeling strong right now, and I think they will be there in force. And I think there will be a body count.

Now would be the moment for true charismatic figure to rise up. Not coming from within the US government, either.

Will this movement (its getting close to a cultural revolution) embrace non violence principles? Or do we live in a society that a few rioters or subset of individuals, makes a unified nonviolent movement impossible?

What if man is mentally compromised and thinks that hes really a she? Or what if a woman is mentally compromised and is attracted to other women? Or do you think that you should only be able to discriminate against what you personally disagree with: like religion?

Sickening; for real:

Oklahoma’s Supreme Court on Friday rejected a request to require everyone attending Trump’s rally in a 19,000-seat arena to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing inside the arena to guard against the spread of the coronavirus. The court ruled that the two local residents who asked that the thousands expected at the BOK Center be required to take the precautions couldn’t establish that they had a clear legal right to the relief they sought."

Religion requires a person to discard rational thought.
