You can't really beat the same day or next day stuff when you're really in a pinch like that. Ebay has really been stepping up their shipping times lately and has guaranteed 2 day ship times from some sellers. You do have to do a little digging to find a seller who offers it, but it's fairly widespread for common items.

I hate paypal so I rarly buy from ebay, but sometimes when I need computer parts, ebay is really the only option

You can just add a card to your ebay account so you don't have to go through paypal :thumbup:. They're an obsolete pain in the ass for sure.

Oh yeah, I totally agree, it's just a willpower thing..it's especially hard during a pandemic.  I've been using them less and less, though, and I hate myself a little every time I do use it lol. I still have a prime account though..that one's gonna be hard to part with when the time comes.

ever notice that some things have a ridiculously high price on amazon, I buy potassium chloride in the store for $6, but on amazon the same stuff was $18, makes me weary of buying anything on amazon unless I know what the price should be, I just overpayed buying duck fat on amazon, I payed $16 for like a $5 bottle, but I couldnt find it in the store, and I really wanted it

As a former employee of Amazon who was working at a time when the pay was not $15 an hour and pretty badly injured myself from my time there and kept working anyway because all the incentive was to do that and not report it and fight for WC... I don't think you should feel bad. Just want people to recognize how fucked up the system is. Amazon is no better than any other in the warehouse industry and they're miles better than most tbqh. They pay extremely well compared to other warehouse jobs. They have onsite doctors. They require employees to stretch and give them the time to do so. They actually give sick leave and PTO to contract employees (no one else does this.)

It's just expecting same day/next day delivery all the time for no reason, just because it's nice, that makes things pretty fucked and irritates me.


That's why employees work themselves to death and have no time for bathroom breaks. Cuz otherwise stupid little people complain on social media that their same day delivery took 12 hours and demand refunds. That's the main reason managers drive their employees to piss in bottles and ignore injuries. Because being late on deliveries is a serious offense (because customers make it so. As if items just fall from the sky.) Getting behind by 1200 items because an employee got hurt at the beginning of their shift or just didn't show is a big deal. (when I was there we moved 100 items per hour in a 12 hour shift and it didn't matter if those 100 items were USB cables or TVs.)

Amazon isn't doing anything special. The whole system is fucked. The standard is fucked. Because people are entitled, ignorant, and fucked. The only thing that makes Amazon special is that they've done it so damn successfully.

Amazon is the powerhouse it is in large part because of the "the customer is always right" logic. Because they have the system so refined down to the lowest possible denominator (it's really fucking impressive how efficient it is) ... being efficient means people are not people. They, too, are numbers on a spreadsheet.

The problem with this kind of thinking can be seen in every american industry from retail to healthcare.


I got side tracked. Most people that work in Amazon and deal with the shitty part of working in Amazon understand if you want to order from Amazon. They just hope you won't bitch about it.


ETA: also don't use expedited shipping anywhere unless you absolutely have to. Next day, 2 day. You make the employees harder but they don't see the extra money you put out for it.

Not that Amazon pockets it. Amazon actually eats alot of costs smaller companies wouldn't dream of. Bezo's net worth isn't cash in his pocket, it's largely just that Amazon (and its affiliated companies) is just worth that much. Bezos would have to sell all his companies and his real estate and property to actually have his net worth as usable cash.

Liquidating. It means, most likely, pay cuts.

Not saying the dude has far more cash than he actually needs or could ever spend but most of his net worth is actually assets for people who need jobs. Like everything else in this system.

Amazon does not set prices. I don't know why people got all up in arms about price gouging on there because it's a regular thing. Vendors can set any price they want, it's the nature of vendor business.
