Yeah they are supposed to lose their leaves over the winter. There are a few kinds of conifers that are deciduous. Tamarack aka larch is another one.

Good to know, thanks!  The area I grew up in had a lot of tamaracks, so it’s one of the trees I have a natural affinity for.  Along with stuff like eastern hemlocks, witch hazel, rhododendron, etc.

I went into my photo gallery a few minutes ago looking for pix of our dawn redwood, and found the one below.  Decided to post it because it features my son wearing a pair of Crocs that were involved in a recollection I wrote about this morning.  As LogicaL Chaos would say, “hella synchronicities”.

I want to steal your child's beautiful head of hair and take it as my own.

How old is your kiddo now anyways? Still breaking hearts and hands with hella good highfives? Of course he is, that's not even a question.

Good luck Niffla. Ive wanted to try roulette but i couldnt figure out the rules completely.

I really wanna gamble with Blackjack. Its one of my favorite card games. In Vegas, i saw "virtual" Blackjack with an AI woman. It was pretty odd.

Burke, cool pic. Healthy kid and healthy cactis too :cacti:

Nyet.  We’re all about commandeering the hijacked notion of American patriotism, and those crocs grant +10 socialism.

Thanks Lodge.  Those aren’t even my biggest cacti!  Come to think of it, that’s not even my biggest kid.

He’s five now!  It’s fuckin crazy.  And yeah, he’s only gotten better at high fives, haha. Just today he hit me with a great one at the playground.  I was whipping him around on the merry-go-round (which he calls a “roundabout” for some unknowable reason), got him up to a fever pitch, and stuck my hand out for the five.  He didn’t see it in time on his first pass, but was back around in about a second and had reared back and really nailed it.  If we lived in a cartoon, that high five would’ve created a visible shockwave.

He’s growing his hair back out right now- the above pic was taken 6 weeks after a grandmother talked him into getting a haircut that’s now kinda infamous within our little family.  Turns out he does not like having short hair.  But, now we know.

Do they call them that in Britain? My kid called my dad "Grompa" for quite a while instead of "Grampa" and I think he got it from Peppa Pig.

That’s possible!  It’s funny when kids do that- start using foreign phrasing because of cartoons they watch.  Recently he’s been enjoying these Australian kids’ entertainers (The Wiggles), and has been calling me “mate”.  Lol.

"Zehbra" for "Zebra" is another one I remember him doing.

Been watching "The Confession Tapes" but it's getting a bit depressing how these people get fucked over. Interesting though.

Like a traffic circle ?

Growing up yourself as a little kid feels like forever, it's almost jarring for me just to watch my nephews turn into little people so fast. Can't even imagine how much crazier it feels as a parent .

Cool that you guys are giving him some autonomy over his haircut and image. I still find myself wishing my mom would've done that instead of giving me terrible 90's bangs and calling it a day for all of elementary school. :peyotezen:

I bit my tongue eating chicken last night. At first I thought it was a minor pain but then like a fast erupting volcano, the pain swelled with incredible furiosity. I almost snapped the chicken bone in my hands as the pain grew. Then this horrendous pain reached its pinnacle moment. My eyes grew wide and anger filled my gut. I refused, i could not let it win. So in my great stubbornness, I continued to consume the ole so spicy chicken. How could I let this brief moment of great anguish come between me and my sustenance. I said no mam, my lapse, my glitch in chewing would not ruin my meal and thus I finished.

Fuck Tmj :shakefist:

I have a $180 chipotle catering order to do on my Ebike at noon.

I make more money driving a bicycle in Denver than I did driving an 18 wheeler back home in TX.

Which part?

When you can drive 1,000 miles in a straight line and be in the same state you have a major irregularity when trying to categorize the state into one place.
