I don't understand how hiring a team of accountants to do your taxes and them likely exploiting every loop hole imaginary makes you a genius anyways. Trump's only participated in the part where he made them do shady stuff, and when you're holding one of the most scrutinized positions in the world it seems this behavior puts you in a position where you are more likely to get caught. If anything, I'd say Donald was an idiot for doing shady shit with his taxes and then trying to hide them. At best it was piss poor political strategy, at worst he's going to get caught doing something illegal.

Now that his returns are getting turned over in NY (unless other appeals happen if that's possible) we will get to find out.

My thoughts exactly. It may be "smart" to hide in the short run, but in the long run, you're likely gonna get discovered. Then likely get in trouble for not sharing the information with NY State. Cant hide these kinds of big money secrets forever....

IMO it's less so shady shit than exposing business deals with shady characters or, even more likely, just that he's not nearly as wealthy as his manufactured persona necessitates in order for his image to not fall apart.

ETA: because his businesses rely entirely on selling his image, selling the trump name.  It's common knowledge that daddy Fred was the real estate brains.  Donnie tried to replicate that, failed repeatedly, and finally realized that the way he could make money was by putting his name on objects and businesses...because he had carefully--and sometimes fraudulently--cultivated an image of being a real estate genius and a businessman with the midas touch

Showing your tax returns shows transparency and gives me more faith onto the President.

Not showing them and fighting to keep them a secret shows a possible finanical conspiracy/cover-up in my opinion.

Its a means to an end.
People vote with a purpose in mind and look for a candidate that best suit them any information helps.

In this case people dont give a shit about his finances they just got swept up in his populist showmanship which he does very well..

Churchill was notoriously bad with money...but he served also served his purpose well.

The difference being a real a present danger and one that was made up.
