I am new to this and I can even tell this is a disaster. There is a lot of helpful information on this forum with instructions/pictures/videos. You should review those on proper techniques. People have been very helpful on here but ignoring their critiques is likely not going to get you to where you want to be.

With all respect, I am doing this to medicate my depression, and its really fucking hard for me to get spores/spawn. From the beginning of this project i had a single 6 year old spore syringe, BUT had ordered new spores from spores101, they never showed up. I have also ordered a spore print, but in the meantime, I dont mind working with all that ive got.

if you think that is such a horrible predicament to be in, you should mail me a print, so that I _can_ start over

I dont disagree that I should start from new spawn, but I dont have that choice right now, so I work as best as I can and Im not giving up. I keep my journey mostly confined to this and some few other question threads.

Today the sporeprints syringes arrived, but Im crossing my fingers that cronicr doesnt read this, and still sends me a print. Still posting this for honesty.

I used bottisavas agar tek, and made 9 agar dishes.

I used 200ml of water, 1 teaspoon of agar, 1 teaspoon of malt in a PF tek jar

This was microwaved until a slight boil, the lid was tightened and then I moved the agar mix to reside in a casserolle of boiling water, where it waited for me to be ready to pour.

Inside a freshly purchased transparent box that I cleaned with Isopropanol, I placed out 9 dishes. I then put on gloves, waited for the agar mix to be cooler, and then poured agar mix into 9 dishes.

I closed the lid on the box, waited for the agar to jellify. I then moved the cooled dishes to a new box in a dry and unused room of the place I am staying where the dishes were inoculated with a small amount of MS syringe solution.
I closed the dishes, put rubber on them for stability, and placed them in a low container. They are now resting on a table in room temperature and I am looking forward to see any growth.

Possible issues:

1) these petri dishes my mother gave me melted in the PC, so I didnt PC sterilize them. I used microwave, and then steam bath after.

2) all of my dishes have condensation - apparently there is a trick to removing this

Please please please, for your own sanity's sake, ask questions before you do things. It'll save you a lot of wasted time and frustration.

So, you didn't sterilize the agar? Or ....the dishes. You put "rubber" on them to stabilize them? What does that mean? Did you wrap them with glad clingwrap or parafilm?

I hate to shit in your cheerios but i think you'll have some serious contam issues. good luck.

I can imagine bod would also have something to say about you 'using his tek'.
With good reason. If you're going to use someone's method, do it exactly as they do. If you want to extrapolate, maybe try to imagine how they move their body. Maybe bod likes to do it in nothing but an apron and duck boots. That, you can leave open to interpretation. Not the critical process.

Now, I don't know your exact situation. I didn't read all of your posts here. I, too, practice this because I know it helps manage my depression and bipolarism like nothing else.
I'll tell you - do something easy to follow like the PF Tek to get yourself a decent enough amount to dose while you take the time to properly follow teks to expand your practice.
