I dont see why not ? I got my shoe boxes at the dollar store can't remember what I paid it was a few years ago

Cheers. I believe the argument is that shoeboxes produce better FAE hence why they are used over other containers. But I reckon if one doesn't latch all the lids then enough FAE will be produced during colonisation. This is simply a noob's guess however...
I do believe that I have seen people post pictures of similar styled containers disguised as shoeboxes!

Yes they'll work, basically any thing resembling a see-through-made-out-of-sth container will do. Just check whether the lid will allow for air exchange and leave it unlatched in case it doesn't.

Yeah you're correct you can adjust the lid as you please .. I think the biggest problem noobs have is over thinking things ..

Is there a reason you would rather get those ?

reason being i have seldom found any adequate shoeboxes. The containers I posted are everywhere in Sydney and fairly cheap!

Cheers Bod. My only concern regards FAE (as I discussed earlier in the thread). I'm unsure as to whether or not I should seal the latches while the sub is colonising. For instance, Shaper seals her latches in her Tek, you use a plastic bag and mushboy slightly cracks the lids. I have (under the advice of some knowledgeable folk on the discord) unsealed the latches while my boxes colonise simply because some food containers obviously want to limit the air entering them - which isn't the case with traditional shoeboxes.
