How do these shoeboxes look

I have about 15 shoeboxes going so far! I am stoked because this is my first time spawning grains. I am almost positive all the spawn I used was clean. I followed Sharper Dreaming's tek's again for making the shoeboxes.

I spawned one of these four on the 24, two on the 25th and one on the 26th. They showed beautiful rhizomorphic growth right away. I actually already see pins on one of the ones I made on the 25th.



I did notice some change in the appearance of the myc, as it went from mostly rhizo/knots to some more fluffy looking stuff. I am pretty sure it's nothing bad?

These ones are actually ms straight to grain, so their rapid growth is seemingly more impressive. It was right as I was learning agar. I shot up about 20 jars, and three made it. The other ones failed or contamed. I took two of the three good ones and did g2g. The rest of my jars now are agar :p

For sure! Glad I know agar now and have plates at the ready. All 15 of them look pretty similar too, although I guess that makes sense if they're all from the same master jar

Same, mushboy. I will post some pics when they fruit. I have been debating on whether I should switch to bigger monos now that I have so many jars, but I feel more comfortable with shoeboxes now. I guess the end result from 20 shoeboxes would be similar to 4 monos, right?

Thanks for pointing that out!  You're right... if an MS to grain is that healthy, it is probably all the more genetically healthy.

Patience, young jedi

Still, that’s a heavy pinset.  If the sub looks dry you could consider bottom watering a little.  See how much the sub soaks up, and if it needs it add more.

But mostly, patience :super:

I know I know. The real reason I am worried is because I realize that all the 20 shoeboxes I made are the same genetic as this shoebox:

It failed terribly, alone with several others. Granted, I used cakes and the conditions were complete shit. I am just worried that I happened to finally nail down all the steps to grow some fuck ass genetics :smile:))

Well, I have 10 shoeboxes from the same master jar with huge pinsets, but tiny ass fruits. The vails are already breaking and they've hardly grown since the last pics I uploaded. Pretty disappointing.

The second round of receiving jars is starting to pin, so I am really hopeful the genetics are different :/

Prep your bulk sub with less water. You should squeeze the coir with all your might and see no trickle.

I can tell from the pics and color of the coir that its too wet.

I like that tek but one thing I'd never do is mist an uncolonized substrate at spawning. Adding more water after being careful to use capacity coir?

Those pics are after misting and bottom watering because all the research I did was telling me it was more likely too dry than wet.

I can tell it's genetics because every single box with those shitty little fruits have weird ass little brown mutations on the top of the caps. I mean, I have grown from MS before using the same tek and crushed BRF cakes and had far superior results :shrug:

It was kind of a last ditch effort after all the pins were just sitting there moving slow as fuck.

I have used shoeboxes with wetter sub and not grown tiny little pecker fruits

When I tried to harvest they all stuck to the top layer and it peeled off like a roll of sod.
