i dont know about you all, but i wasnt waiting around for 13 years. i had discovered lots of different, great music in the time between this new album and the last one.

anyone bitching about the 13 years has no real arguement. there has been plenty of awesome bands releasing plenty of awesome music.

what i enjoy may not be the same for you. but there is no denying that within the 13 years of waiting for TOOL's new album i have found some cool new artists, or even old shit that i was unaware of. check out Frank Zappa, FISHBONE, The Residents, Daniel Johnston, DEAFHEAVEN, Leon Russell, CONVERGE, DIIV, WEEN, King Crimson, The Fugees, Faith No More, Alabama Shakes, and the list goes on and on. get out there and find something to enjoy!

there's a story that Al Jourgensen tells that says he used to put lsd in to jack daniels bottles and drink them on stage while performing with his industrial/metal band MINISTRY.. well after a festival show that had TOOL and Ministry billed, Al says he gave a bottle to Maynard and the guys but forgot to tell them about the lsd inside lol.. this was just before they wrote the album Aenima.. so says Al.

i do think they have had many experiences with psychadelics. they have a lot of imagery and lyrical content hat represent those kind of experiences.

They were in mitigation for years with the artist that did there merch and the case was just recently finished allowing them to release new music..

i wonder if TOOL could have signed a new deal, under a different band name and released new tunes during this 13 year-long wait.. in fact, that would have been very cool.

i saw TOOL with Primus in 2016 in San Diego. there was an opening band called 3TEETH. i thought the show was great except for 3teeth. anyone ever listen to them before?

Alright. After having a good listen, it's pretty awesome. A worthy Tool album imo. Nice vibe, gonna have a listen on my next trip. I liked the titular track more when I knew I had a whole album to listen to. Which makes sense, they've always been really aware of the the soundscape of their albums as a whole. I'm not sure I have particular favourites, there was only 7 tracks after all. Need to listen more. But yeah, I dig it.

those groups are cool but they are not "other tool bands". the only relation is maynard being in all 3.
