Eye on the T.V. 'cause tragedy thrills me. Whatever flavor it happens to be like.. "Killed by the husband", "Drowned by the ocean", "Shot by his own son", "She used the poison in his tea and kissed him goodbye". That's my kinda story. It's no fun until someone dies.
Don't look at me like I am a monster. Thrown out your one face, But with the other. Stare like a junkie into the T.V.. Stare like a zombie, While the mother holds her child. Watches him die. Pleads to the sky crying: "Why, oh why?"
Cause I need to watch things die... from a distance. Vicariously I live while the whole world dies. You all need it too - don't lie.
Why can't we just admit it? Why can't we just admit?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing. Neither the brave nor bold, or writers of stories told. We won't give pause until the blood is flowing.
I need to watch things die.. from a good safe distance. Vicariously I live while the whole world dies. You all feel the same so..
Why can't we just admit it?
Blood like rain come down. Drown on grave and ground.
Part vampire. Part warrior. Carnivore and voyeur. Stare at the transmitter. Sing to the death rattle.
Lie (4x)
(Background news headline)
Credulous, divest your desire to believe in Angels in the hearts of men. Pull your head on out. Your head believes it give a listen. Shouldn't have to say it all again. The universe is hostile, So impersonal. Devour to survive, so it is, So it's always been.
We all feed on tragedy. It's like bood to a vampire.
Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies. Much better you than I.

I haven't seen it yet, and if it was leaked, there's no way I wouldn't have seen it already. If I do see it, though, I'll let everyone know.

very true i call tool morbid because for the most part it is. thats not to say they dont express ideas i apreciate. both the dead and tool have used there music to influence the minds of there listeners in meaningful ways. both bands embrace the enternal nature of existence. tool more so through lyrics and the dead more through music.
this world can be very dark at times. it can be very bright at times too. but when i want to get dark i listen to primus or somthing. at leased that makes me smile while im weirded out

OK Tool is one of my favorite bands and I think this song kind of sucks. The music is good, but the lyrics are pretty shitty. Complaining about TV? Everyone knows TV sucks, they're above this.

damn dude, don't have a toolgasm
I thought the song wasn't half bad, but it always depends on what is before, and what follows (unless its a first or last song on the album hehe). Tool has been one of those bands that I have to listen to the entire album in order to give a real opinion.
I can see why people think tool is mediocre, but the more I listen to them, the less obvious and more talented they become. they may not be the most talented (save their drummer) but their are artists. they have a craft and work well with it.
my favorite song by tool was and still is merkaba. its not on any of their offcial albums, but its an 8-10 min instrumental which would blow anyone's doors open, expecially if you're tripping.
their lyrics aren't slouching either
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Still, seeing them live on June 11th in a wee venue so that should roxxorz anyones boxXors.

If you think the totality of the grateful dead archive is all "sugar magnolias and sunshine daydreams" then you havent paid any attention to the band whatsoever.

Of course I was overgeneralizing about the Grateful Dead, just as he was about Tool. I'm only being as fair to his favorite band as he is to mine(actually more so, since I used actual GD lyrics).

So is this track fake or what?It was mentioned in this thread.
If it turns out to be real then thats cool. Its an ok song.I hope the rest of the tracks will be better.
The production sucks.I was told that they produced it themselves this time.Unlike the other albums.
All in all its a good song, but after a few listens im through with it.
I am still just as excited about the new album as i was before I heard this though

They usually have really good lyrics and sometimes just hypnotizing songs. Songs that make me go into like a deep thinking mode. IMO atleast.

Pushit (Live) - off of the Salival release Jimmy (probably my favorite track of theirs)
Hell, every musical track of the Aenima album.
Lateralus and Reflection off of the Lateralus album.

It's on Oink. That's the only place I looked. Pm me your email address if you don't have an account and I'll give you an invite to that site.
I haven't listened to it....I don't even like Tool, but it's been posted all day and hasn't been taken down so I think it's the real one.

If you can give us the actual torrent file (it's very small) we can all just download it that way. I've done it before like that through oink.

I think they have been extremely innovative and creative with the drop D tuning. It's not worse than a band always using standard tuning.

im not going to say im disappointed but this isnt what i was lead to believe the album would sound like. tool said it was supposed to be some of more 'harder' stuff they've put out. well so far i dont see much a difference between this and the other stuff as far as that goes. in fact this is probably the softest music they've put out since lateralus. i give it a 5.5 rating. witty song titles but the music just doesnt capture me. like the blatant rip off of pink floyd animals this cd doesnt even measure up to that. oh well they have a good back catalogue of good stuff and hopefully many more years of trying to right this sunken piece of art.

danny delivers no doubt...album is great...noone wants tool to change there sound...thats why most people dont like what would otherwise be a good band...stray too far from the roots and youve lost what you used to stand for.

Tough choice here. Its good because its still good ol tool...but then it sucks because it sounds like everything else they've put out. "Its so tool".
Well where is everyone going with this one? You like it or you dont? Personally I think they're overrated. A good band, but not musical gods like some talk about.
The only thing I like about em is its not "typical mtv top ten"...YET! Its very creative and I think we need more of that kinda thing.
On another subject...how does something like this "Leak out"? Does someone close to the project steel something and put it out? Does someone email the cd to someone and it just "ends up on the internet"? I dont get how this kinda thing happens..
Like "Well Mr. President...we emailed the plans for attack to the CIA, but it leaked out onto the shroomery....I just dont get it sir!!" Please explain.

Last week the CD's were on trucks heading for stores, so I'm guessing an employee snagged one and put it on the internet.

In My Opinion (aimed at no one):
Adam's guitar playing is too simplistic/minimalist. Too many spaces. Too many bullshit songs. Too much like APC on PCP. Heh, on Rosetta Stoned I heard "anal spooning" once and "shit the bed" three or four times. Clever vocal effects at the beginning, though. Seems like these songs lack confidence...I.E. it doesn't have the confident cleverly interjected progression that Lateralus had. It almost has a hopeless angst feel to it...in a soft spoken manner.
I just feel the album is far too comptemporary and far too easy to mimic (I could actually tab these easily).
Rating from me: 5.3/10
Albums in rating order (highest at top, minus Salival): Lateralus Aenima Undertow 10,000 Days Opiate (Only scores lower because it has fewer songs)
I think "Vicarious", "Jambi", and "Right in Two" will be easy to get into...the others...well, I don't think so. Unless you count "Rosetta Stoned", in a fuck-off song kinda way.
If I wanted to sum up how about felt these albums have progressed, I would say that it's like taking a shitload of psychedelics. Aenima was the anxious come-up, Lateralus was the Ego-loss peak, and 10,000 Days is the "fucked in the ass" hangover. Salival...well, I guess that was just one of those moments where you couldn't figure out whether it was real or just your imagination (but maybe that's Lateralus).
Sigh. But thanks for uploading it guys.

hehe thats good
This album wasn't what I was suspecting. I thought it would be much more agressive, it's APC'ish. Still like it though.

Tool-Lite. Especially mjk's vocals on The Pot. When I first heard it, I immediately said what the fuck??

Definatly. Was just really thrown off because they said it was going to be heavy. It's still good music, just not the kind I hoped for.

When I first listened to it I was a little thrown off but after listening to it 11 times since I downloaded it has really grown on me. I think a lot of people won't like it at first but then change their mind. Right in Two has to be one of their best songs ever.

They went on sale this morning at 10:00! And no the Hummingbird center is not hard to find just take the subway to union station and walk two blocks east to front street, you can't miss it.

It appears so. I just called up my friend who bought the tickets and was informed that he has a COF membership so I'm set. We got tickets right up front in the centre section. It's gonna be nuts.

If youre into heavier stuff, check out Undertow (the whole album). If youre more into progressive, check out these tracks:
Aenima -Eulogy -Jimmy -Third Eye
Salival -Pushit (live version) -Old Quarter (Zepplin cover) Lateralus -Lateralus -Disposition/Reflection/Triad
I must be in the minority, because I liked the new single the first time I heard it, and now that Ive heard it again I really dig it. To me, it does sound heavier. If this track is a good representation of the album, Im sure Im gonna be really into it.
Also, I think people are expecting too much from this. The same thing happened to me with Lateralus. Aenima was my favorite album (still is) so I was kind of disappointed when lateralus wasnt a sequal. But, the more Ive listened to it the more Ive appreciated it. Just give it some time and dont make a call right away just because it isnt what you expected.
