Just depends on the culture and how it's viewed growing up.

Like here in the states, eating horse would be close to as unthinkable as eating a dog or a cat

But in Mexico, Switzerland, and Germany, among others, they do.

Also certain religions don't eat pork (Muslims, Orthodox Jews) or beef (Hindus).

I've been watching this documentary on a place what was considered the world's most storied/legendary restaurant, a place called El Bulli in Spain, and the head chef supposedly was one of the first (actually they seem to allude to him being the first) to take pure ham fat, melt it down and then use it as a cooking oil

By the way I'm not endorsing taking overweight human beings and turning them into cooking oil. I'm just saying.

Very, very few animal species will ever eat their own kind (although yes it does happen

I had some peking duck the other day and it was

also, chicken cooked right (not dry), and seasoned or marinaded well -- for such a dirt cheap meat source man is it good

I used to think chicken was boring and meh before I grew up and learned how to cook

I want to say swine are so anatomically similar to us that parts of their organs are used in transplants and heart surgery. And scientists are looking into using whole organs in the near future.

Considering the physical similarities and both of us living on slop for generations I could see that we probably would taste similar.
