Hey yall! No problems these ways, just wanted to show what can be accomplished by shutting up and taking advice!

I got this little fogger  setup going and fan pointing straight up from the floor of my Martha, trying to do this automated thing lol

I firmly disagree, although we're usually on par with our advice.

His surface conditions look fine to me, misting and fanning is only going to throw the tub off course.

I genuinely disagree with that fam, sorry.

It does look fine.I dont fan and mist as a last resort I fan and mist while fruiting,  i don't think its bad advice. Why would it throw the tub off course?
If he drenches it he can get aborts but thats why we fan

Because-

If the conditions are fine without misting and fanning, then why bother doing either?

Evaporation is a major factor in pinset, and that seems to be the fuel a lot of people use to feed the Mist/fan fire.

Evaporation happens naturally as air currents inside of a monotub move.

I just think if your surface conditions are fine, then why would you bother?

Misting and fanning in MY opinion is for when something needs to be altered about the surface conditions.

I have never misted or fanned (other than misting to rehydrate substrate after a flush) and I have had success- quite consistent success for a good time.

Id agree about manually misting and fanning, but it’s fruiting. That means I misted and fanned enough during colonization. I read somewhere that if you must and fan until you see pins, your sub has enough moisture to carry it thru the first flush. I do have a question though: do you guys think the humidifier is necessary? It’s been at 46% the whole time while I’ve been misting and fanning and it brought the Martha up to 70%, but I reckon it’s a little higher inside the shoebox because the hose is pointing directly in it.

I would give shoeboxes a try next time . You would be surprised of how low maintenance they actually are. All you have to do is mist when needed and fanning doesn't do shit. A martha is kind of pointless in a way.

I think you should experiment a little bit. After this Martha grow try shoeboxes and compare your results 😉. My money is on the shoeboxes..

I am very proud of myself!! One thing though: I actually am doing the shoebox tek. My Martha is literally just for protection against temp swings and my homes environment. I have a little heater inside to keep the temp at 78, and the humidifier, so really I’m not using it as a big fruiting chamber, it’s just my storage/temperature closet.

I think manually misting and doing the dubtub method would work a little better. I think you should finish it like this then do it manually next time 🤷🏻‍♂️. Experimenting is extremely important 👨‍🔬.

I don’t see how misting and fanning manually, spraying solid water and trying to evaporate it by hand, has an advantage over FAE and keeping the RH at 80%. There isn’t an advantage, because I did just that on one of My other shoeboxes that’s running and it’s got bacteria in it. Thanks for the advice though!

Doing it manually when it works perfectly without that- is in fact, pointless.

I firmly believe dialing in your tubs is the most important thing.

If you know how to get things dialed in properly, why would you ever need to mist or fan unless rehydrating sub?

because mushrooms are 90% water and they like water and fresh air.
Set and forget is one thing but if you have time to leave the lid open its even better, as long as you can mist...

Is nobody understanding that I have a fogger pointed directly at the substrate? Why would I need to mist?

Bw I agree that they like water and fresh air; however, if you can provide them with sufficient water, and sufficient FAE without having to do a thing- would that not be the better of the two options?

Doesn't this seem obvious?

I mean look at the flushes I get- Look at the flushes MANY people get. All without misting or fanning.

Are you that bored fam?

you did not have the mister in your first picture when i commented. I was only answering trich he said "why would you ever need to mist or fan unless rehydrating sub?"?
also i see no condensation in that pic... that is the reason i said some thing

yeah bro i see a nice canopy wtf does that have to do with anything i have grown mushrooms on and off for 15 years i have seen a canopy or two why are you de railing this guys thread so hard
