I must admit that my bud's lighting methods have been erratic at best. Typically, he leaves a nightlight on near the PMP during the day and hits it with a lamp for a few hours. Then at night, no lights. No schedule to it. He apparently has some shrooms waiting for him when he returns home - so it works. BUT I am not sure what the cakes are looking like at this moment so maybe a regular cycle would be ideal.

12/12 first 3-5 days then 6on/18off. The heavy lighting helps to induce the pinning. Once pins form, more darkness gives bigger fruits.

hey magash. what are the specifics for the light to use so that you dont initiate pinning to early? It just says red light is recommended.(The proper location and type of light is discussed in more detail in Chapter IV)

mushrooms are not plants, there is only one requirement for light and that is....some light, any light once a day for some period of time.
light doesn't matter,as long as they get some.
10 minutes/10 hours wont make much difference.

Thought TMC had something to say about the benefit of blue light. Red light is for plant growth. I wouldn't worry too much about the light cycle initiating pinning. A few minutes a day should be fine, a couple hours a little better. Check out bulk neglect grow. That had no light cycles other than the time it was exposed to light during fanning.

The red light is to be used when checking the casing growth as not to initiate pinning to early since red light at 510 nanometers had were ineffective at inducing pinning. If you could get your casing to be even and be able to check and patch without initiating pinning you could accomplish an even pinset much easier.
