How well would an aquarium light (flourescent tube) work for fruiting?  Would it have the right amount of blue?  :oogle:

Diffused natural lighting is best but that will work.

I can get diffused natural lighting from my windows, but it would be shining in from the sides, not above.  How's that?  :oogle:

an aquarium light would work just fine..a friend's mycologist colleague has used both cool white fluoros (higher lumen more balanced spectrum) and daylight fluoros (lower lumen more blue spectrum) and didn't notice any difference...mushrooms don't need much light to grow...light only plays a role in triggering a response in the mycelium to begin the fruiting cycle...

If you go to the right kind of aquarium shop, you can buy a Marine-Glo Light bulb, this is a bulb that gives off good light for mushrooms. Its 20$ though. And Diffused natural lighting is probably better then this.
