Saw one of the hunters whos been raiding my favourite spot in an olive green hoodie. He left exposed mycelium and a stem butt laying on some bark. Unfortunately no pictures from there. I went to a pine forest where i saw a couple, and sure enough there were more, not a lot though and much were eaten by bugs. Needless to say, dont expect much more pics from me, unfortunately.

Did see a fairy ring (more like semi-circle) of what i believe are some Amanita rubescens.

Found this strange specimen in the deep south - VERY prominent blue/purple hue. Can't imagine this contains any Psliocybin despite its appearance, but an interesting find nonetheless.

Nice family pic from todays find

How long would it be expected for a sub to grow back to where gills begin opening, given semi-decent rainfall and the current cold conditions?

I would say by the weekend, 4-5 days. I guess it really depends though as sometimes they can grow really slowly.

'I’ve spent the better half of yesterday afternoon actually doing my research on a geocities hosted shroom forum before I came out here. It’s because of this I’ll have the best mushroom haul, just wait here a minute and I’ll come back and show yous’.

geocities is old school that was a nice touch in the 'article'

Welp, today was my first afternoon out where I didn't find a single sub, checking out more areas new to me down south. The habitat looks promising and I hope it just hasn't been cold enough for a flush yet but I there's a chance it's been picked clean.

Picked up a dehydrator today for my edibles. Hopefully I'll need it for subs sometime. One rack is loaded with A. muscaria :regularshroom:!

long time lurker, never felt the need to join, but if you are actually a south aussie that consumes A. muscaria....

Did you boil before drying in the dehydrator? or just slice and dry? so much conflicting info online, and i figure getting and answer from a local would be best!

Sliced and dried, I'm going to leave them for a few months as per this guide. I haven't tried them before so I can't make recommendations, sorry.

Found my biggest patch ever today and my first decent find amongst eucalypts this year. The patch covered about an eighth of an acre. Picked about 60, left plenty of mature specimens and pins to keep the goodness going. Mostly on the small side but still exciting, pretty much tripled my haul and should be enough to keep me going outside the season. Hope it's not one of you guy's regular spots, it was real nice to find untouched new ground in a very heavily targeted area. Found a handful on the way back to the car, too.

Gonna try spore printing and cardboard tekking to see if I can start a few patches near my place. Lots of potential places to spread the magic! Also gonna try cultivating a couple of tubs outdoors. Apologies for not taking photos of it all but I'm taking notes.  I'll let you all know how it went next year.

Got a wee bit paranoid seeing another "picker" around today, there's always been other people around that were obviously hunting subs but this was the first one I've seen out there without a bag for the harvest. Normally I'm happy to catch up with others but this time I steered clear just out of caution.

It's been a nice holiday but I'm back to work on Monday. Almost looking forward to it!
