The solenoid should use less than a 1/2 amp. If the solenoid kicks the breaker forget about growing mushrooms and use the money to move out of that house!! If you can run a 60-watt incandescent bulb without kicking the breaker the solenoid should work.

I just read this post again. I bet you are using an 18 gauge cord get a more heavy duty cord so the electrons flow easier. Keep the receipt you can always take it back.

thats just one chord. I've burnt out like 4 already:facepalm3:
had to replace an outlet as well cause it fried one that didn't have a GFI
