hey all... we are having some trouble getting our oysters to fruit.. here is the setup..
its our first commercial attempt, we are using shelves with plastic underneath and folded over.. so its shelf, plastic, straw on top, spawned and mixed, then the plastic is wrapped over it and stappled to the shelf, then we cut holes in it... we had small holes in it at first then went back and cut slits in the holes so the mushies could pop threw.. it was 100% colonized last weekend and we initiated on tuesday... its now been almost a week since then and we have seen no sign of pins at all =\ we pasteurized the straw in a 55 gallon barrel, spawn run went great there is no signs of contams whatsoever.. we iniated by lowering temp and introducing fresh air.. humidity is high in the room but we have no way of testing.. we are not sure what is going on and cant think of what else we would need to do to initiate.. the bags are now getting some liquid in them as the myc gets older and they are still not pinning =\ if anyone has any suggestions thatd be greatly appreciated.. much thanks
oh BTW we did not chop the straw as we had no real way of doing it, but it seemed to colonize fine.. we are using OG oat straw.. the bags are about 12" thick in places.. everything seems fine but they are just not fruiting.. not sure what is up, thanks
also it is not the strain.. we are using a commercial strain from FP that ive fruited in small bags before with n/p whatsoever
well, as you say you wanna go commercial i am sure you have set your setup properly.
the airexchange (permanent), moisture and climate are properly controlled?
if so, the bags of the oyster culture shouldnt really have slits as the surface of the slits may cause drying, you would want little X holes, like poked with an arrowhead. besides that .. thats the only advice i got for you. peace ohm
