Humidity on a budget

I thought some of you might get a kick out of this. Right now, I am on a budget and cutting any corners I can. A cool mist vaporizer was not quite cutting it so I came up with this. This is a pedestal sump pump in a large tote filled 1/2 with water. In the tub also is an aluminum bed cot with a sheet over that. The pump has a hose that has a spray nozzle on that pointed at the sheet. The pump is hooked to a cycle timer that trigers the pump every 7 minutes misting the sheet with water for 5 seconds. All of this has a blower behind it that blow air through the sheet and humidifies a 15 by 25 room to 95% RH 24/7. The only thing I had to buy was the cycle timer..

arent you worried about eventual contams settling on the bedsheet ?
as it is permamently moist ?

So far that has not seemed to be an issue. I have added a bit of Clorox to the water last week though just for that reason. I was reading on another site about a home-made humidifier/air exchange unit, and it was suggested that they add a bit of iodine to the water.. I'm not sure what the difference would be but I guess that would be an option too. So far, though, it is working great. Picked another 3 lbs this morning.

The bleach may put off fumes that could harm the mycelium. I believe Iodine does not.
