Re: Filter on underside of lid [Re: cronicr]

Just thinking outside the box here, but maybe the filter on the agar lid is a good thing?

Seeing as we know that myc / shrooms need and want oxygen at all stages of development, maybe a filter on the agar plate lid would help in growing out the myc in a more expeditious fashion? There is of course the higher potential for contam, but whatever. Has anyone experimented with this?

Thanks.

I have experimented with this and it is my preference.  I don't worry about it.  Just close the lid, pc, and forget until I'm ready.

I just think it's a vector for contams to open the pc, then to have to close the lids?  But to each their own.

Why not just close the lid, pc and forget?

I don't have to close the lids the imperfect seal gives gas exchange, certainly nothing wrong with a filter though

Roger Rabbit's video is good for pouring agar. I use no pours because they are reusable and easy to work with. Storage is the downside, I always have over 100 plates taking up space in my closet. 100 snack containers is some cubic footage lol.

its easy. watch some videos of people doing it and then try it yourself. i failed the first time but now have like 99.99999999 pour success rate.
then

now

pouring LC into grain jars is fun too. think g2g but the donor 'grain' is a liquid. same mechanics tho:thumbup:
