Filter on underside of lid
    #26028256 -

So I may have made a noob mistake.

I made up some agar dishes from little plastic containers.  The filter wouldn't attach to the top so I attached it (silicone) to the underside of the lid.

Am I inviting contams?  I was planning to spread some genetics but now I'm unsure if I should.

At any rate I'd only be out a few dollars and an hour of time if I need to just throw them away.

Why would you have a filter for agar dishes when spreading genetics? I'm about to get into agar so maybe I am clueless but that doesn't sound correct from what I have seen.. but as for your actual question, It definitely could spread contams as I am sure anything that comes in contact with it would stick to it but that is just my guess, since they are already made up though you could try a couple

Agar doesn't require filters. The Parafilm will allow the minimal gas exchange needed for agar. I recommend you do some extra studying to ensure your techniques are appropriate.

Thanks bod.

Sorry for the confusion.  I was having trouble getting a pic up.  Here is what I'm talking about.

It's blue pressed polyfill.  I've been using it as a filter for years with no trouble.  And yes the condensation is what is making think the filter also got wet.  In my experience the condensation dries out in a few days with the filter.

At any rate I'm going to make up some normal jars and try a few of these out to see what happens.

After taking one of the lids off I've discovered 2 things.

1.  The filter stayed dry.
2.  These containers are crap as the lid doesn't snap on and comes off very easy with no seal.

Back to my tried and true no pour agar method with these.

Gotcha, I didn't grasp all of the question. Thought the user was using Petri dishes.

That's a cool low profile dish..
Get rid of the filter.. No hole in the top.
Pull them hot right out of the pc right into a sandwich bag.
A shoe box should hold a dozen of them jars all in individual bags.
It doesn't get simpler than that..:cookiemonster:

No modding?  Won't they break in the pc without a filter?

But I don't have to if I use a filter?  Plus the filter allows for the condensation to evaporate.

I'm all ears for a simpler method.

No the glass won't break just don't have it tightened all the way to avoid a vacuum
