Most people on here don't. I've seen seen posts on here about trump,guns and religion and everyone was getting angry at each other. This might be the reason you can't talk about these subjects on the dmt nexus 🤔.

Wow, this is a good/bad example of what life's about: emotion. Logically, life has no purpose. 1000 years from now, nothing we do fucking matters. Life is logically pointless. Enter emotion, this makes life have a point, or at least make it seem to have a point. Even after knowing the pointlessness, this argument over someone calling you dumb sure seems important, at least to you, which makes you go on living. Now I would say you shouldn't ascribe importance to this minor infraction, because it's indulging in negative emotions. Indulge in the pleasant emotions and connections, and ascribe meaning to those.

The things I do don't fucken matter, but they seem important to me, so I continue to do them with pride. I feel good about them regardless of the outcome, which is eventually NOTHING. A purely logical being would kill themselves. Why have sex? why reproduce? why do anything? why go on living? You might say that it is logical to stay alive, but why? To die later? Spock should have put a bullet in his head years ago; logically it's the right choice.

But it does matter.  In terms of “real” if we nuke the earth and kill off tons of species it will matter 1,000 years from now imo..

There is a mass amount of shit we do daily that means absolutely ziltch but I don’t think that’s an excuse to just go hog wild.  It’s a weird time, we have capabilities that weren’t around just a short while ago and those capabilities can kick off a lot of change if aren’t smart about how we handle all that.

I think everything we do matters now that I think about it, if not to others it does to ourselves..

I agree Amanita, my individual life is meaningless to me. My purpose is determined solely by my own consciousness, however, our actions impact others and those around us, human and non-human. I don't think impact inherently has meaning though. Some Buddhists have set themselves on fire and decided it meant nothing to them.

At the heart of it, I think life is utterly meaningless. BUT, that thought alone gives man the freedom to pursue his own passions and dreams - thereby carving out meaning where there is none.

If the earth was nuked, then nothing mattered. And it's only a matter of time before the earth is nuked by the sun... But that's okay, because it feels like it maters. It matters now...

And I guess it could be an excuse to go "hog wild" but luckily most people have some sort of morals, and it still feels like our actions matter.
