My hope in this thread is to create an ever extending list of tips and tidbits regarding the home cultivation of mushrooms!

Feel Free to Add a new tip everyday, but be considerate of the advice and tips already listed!

My best tip of any day is never be over paranoid about contamination it will only cause you to cause actual contamination by stalking and breathing all over your shit going crazy lol

You don't have to stir hot bucket tek sub, just mix before spawning.

Don't bother cleaning bucket tek buckets of residual coir in between uses.

Get a proper fluorescent light or bulb and keep it on the recommended 12/12. It makes a huge difference lol

My tip would be..let it fruit and keep your routine. I had a monotub that took 2 months to pin. I was thinking of tossing but perseverance gave results. Also I've had some bacteria ridden tubs, and was wondering if I should toss. But it fruited regardless. Let it grow

Keep a silica gel or desiccant stay fresh packets in with ur dried mushies. U don't want to lose all ur hard work bc u thought ur mushie were cracker dry. They can suck up water thru the moisture in the air. But this will keep them fresh for yrs.

Don't over mist! Extra love is full of extra contams! :lol:

Always be teachable and continue to educate yourself.

Don't repeat what u've read until u try it for urself.

When you encounter a problem or have a question, don't post immediately post about it- Use the search engine. 9/10 times someone has already wondered the same thing or had the same issue.

Prepare more grain jars / brf cakes than you'll actually need. If you're a noob then there is a high chance of contam/failure. Preparing more than enough allows for a decent margin of error. Relying on just a couple of jars for your first grow is going to end in disappointment.

Start with agar, to grain to straight coco and make your own prints sooner.

Don’t bother washing your jars and lids unless they are getting crusty.  Rinse and reuse, big time saver and the PC will kill anything you don’t want.

Don't get high of your own supply... No wait that's why we do it.

Print straight inside a small jar. Then use it to mix up sterile water for your syringe. Don't bother with fiddly tinfoil cut out this step unless your posting prints.

Not my tip read it on here but thought it's so obvious why I didn't think of it before

If you use it jars for grain spawn, invest in a canning funnel! It makes loading jars a breeze!

Don't over mist your surface and mat down your sub.

No direct misting, Mist above tub and allow to fall.
