You're going through alcohol withdrawal.
Sounds like you'll be fine, though, since you stopped before the habit got really bad.
You are doing yourself a huge favor by stopping now.

No, yes, yes.
Just the other fallout from abusing alcohol, it does so much shit to one's body. Physical dependence is the least of the issues and recedes within a week... I've been sober longer than that.
But yeah, good to stop. I can just eat and sleep it off till I come right.
Thanks

No?
It wasn't a question... I was stating a fact that you're going through alcohol withdrawal.
Just keepin' it real for ya so you don't start being in denial about it because that's when shit goes downhill.

Just don't man. You clearly know fuck all about it. The last thing I (or anyone else) needs is misinformation. I don't want a cunt fight with you, so don't be a cunt. I felt great for a couple of  weeks, now I feel tired and fucked. Go hold that up to an alcohol withdrawal pattern chart and come back and tell me how it fits. Or just don't. Just don't.

I know it gets said a lot but honestly the best thing you can do when trying to get sober is to eat great foods and exercise a lot. Gotta fill that gap and exercise gives you something to do and it makes you feel better.

Think I'll just roll with the punches until my body has finished with the heavy detox rather than pushing myself. Just gotta keep cool and mood stable until it passes.

I was a functional alcoholic for years. Daily drinker. Drank myself to sleep. I wasn't a sloppy, drink yourself to you can't walk type -- on work nights I'd get something really manageable like just a 6 pack and maybe a 32 ounce -- but I would drink that every night and then go to bed. Weekends I'd drink heavier.

Since the Jan. 1 I've been cutting back to only drinking 3-4 nights per week. I know lol, it's not much but it's better than the 7 nights a week I was doing before.

Shit's hard, man.

I want to quit drinking so bad. Lucky it's just a few weeks until happy mushroom harvest sexy time. I don't really feel the need to drink when I micro dose

I feel you man. I've been on and off for years. Professional person with a complex role, family with all the trimmings... it just has to go ay.

Before I've tried the approach of fighting it and stuff, managed to have many sober stretches. Just now I was sober for a year and then drank for a year. But fk it hey. Too costly in every way.

This time I've just chosen to ignore and derail thoughts that think about me drinking. So much easier than fighting it. I don't want to drink anyway so it's kinda sealed. Fortunately I didn't have any physical addiction to deal with as well, so no withdrawals. It's just all in my head. The cravings have dissipated to nothing pretty much already.

Will be good after this rough patch has ended. I'll be able to do psychs again too without it pressing on my set and potentially ruining everything.

Just tired today, chilling on the couch listening to some prog. No where near the uberfucked and smashed out in bed in the afternoon of yesterday. Easy rolling.

In addition to food and water try to find something that flushes ammonia out of you, I’m not sure what that would be right off hand since I haven’t need it it (hopefully never will) but when I landed in the hospital they gave me this little shot of something and about 4 hours later I started shitting out pure atrocity.  My body was kicking toxic funk I’m surprised you can have in you and still live.  It would take forever for that to cycle out naturally, if it could all be removed and there’s no doubt that has influence over your mood/mind.

I quit drinking maybe 10-11(?) months now and it’s still like I’m on a mild hit of acid.  The coolest part is I don’t feel stuck in a ‘cycle’.. time’s actually moving forward and mentally I’m more like I was when I was a kid, life has more nooks and crannies in the details to get into.

Also I’m not as mad anymore.

I actually do know a thing or two.
And I don't appreciate the name calling.  There's no need for that.
Just because you're going through "heavy kickback" (which I guess isn't withdrawing to you, but at this point you're just twisting words for your own satisfaction) doesn't give you the right.

I'm not twisting words, I am using actual definitions and you're trying to label me with a medical condition that is clearly incorrect, without knowing any history besides a couple of forum posts. And then doubling down on that and want to argue the point.
Now you tell me I'm playing word games? Fuck off man.
I don't appreciate doctor know-it-alls making false diagnosis' online with little information, especially when it comes to myself. Pull your head in.

Feels good not to be waking up at 3am every day all dry and half pissed and hungover. Wish I could sleep in though. I usually start work at 6 so I'm awake at 5, every single day. Just wake up like clockwork. The lights come on in my head and the party starts. There's no way to go back to sleep.

I'm on holiday now, got a couple of weeks off. Leaving work yesterday I had the only impulse I've had all week. Previously I'd definitely be stopping in at the bottleshop when starting a holiday, took me maybe a minute to beat the thought off. Was pretty daunting for a few moments.

I don't feel fucked up tired like earlier in the week. Not usual energy levels either, but okay.
Thanks to the people who have supported me here and in PM who made me feel not alone. Just knowing that I'm not the only one who's made this change makes it easier. It's not a new frontier, it's a natural progression to dump alcohol and just move on with life.

No doubt I'll hit other rough patches in the months coming as I heal. I guess I should be grateful for that. There's much worse reasons to be feeling like crap.

That's a big cut, even if it doesn't sound like it.
Is your goal to eventually not drink at all?

I wish I could drink a 6 pack a few times a week, and not be taking down 5th's of jager in 3 hours within a couple weeks.

Shit's hard. Well put.

Well, it's been 3 and a half years now without drinking and shit is still hard concerning alcohol. And I wasn't even a full blown alcoholic.

My dumbass just replaced a 4 year oxycodne addiction with a 2 year drinking problem back then . Fucking poison!

That's how it got me... Replaced a severe methcathinone problem with alcohol. I might have been better sticking with the cat. I still miss cat from time to time and I haven't touched it for 10 years. The stuff gets under your skin.

I have to be honest I've had nothing really bad happened to me since I quit to put me to the test but hopefully the neural pathways are changing and those old habits, though hard to kill, are dieing.

A couple things that will keep me going is, I've come this far now without it, why fuck up all the hard work I've done, and all the good things that are happening in my life rn will be gone if I go back to where I was a year ago. Oh and of course I'm pretty sure I'll be dead in a few years if I drink the way I was before:shrug:

Have an awesome break dude :youthemandawg:

Dude, I've been clean for 9 years.
At least for me, it doesn't go away.
It got a lot easier after the first year, but since then it's a pretty constant struggle that I only have to fight mentally as thankfully I have no idea where to get oxy or any opiate where I  moved to.

Maybe it's just me, but those 4, almost 5 years on that drug, I still recall only the good feelings. Yet, put the w/d's to the side. It's fucked up.

Alcohol never had the same effect, although also a CNS depressant. It was just because it's what I used to before I started with the opies, and it wasn't a problem back then.

With all this said, it's why I used to be such a big proponent of Kratom, and for the past few years have been highly against it for myself. It's the same feeling. Granted the w/d's are child's play, but it's fucked as well in cases where I use it to just numb myself from problems, and to chemically love someone. No different than what I did with the oxys.

That's pretty intense. I've always found opiates boring within a few days use, they never got into me like that. First time is good but the reward drops off sharply after that. I'm built for stims and psychs. Previously in my life I've had speed and mdma issues as well. Great long line of hopping from substance to substance for decades. 2016 was my first sober year since 1994. 2017 was an intense psychs binge, 2018 was kinda shit with alcohol but mostly in control, I'm back on the wagon now, without a crisis even. Just because I want to. Maybe it's real this time.

I'll be happy now just to limit my use to irregular psych use. A few times a year or less. Maybe I just need a total abstinence year or five. Gonna have to step this one out slowly and find my path.

Some of our brains are made to enjoy the quick and ample release of dopamine whereas others are made to enjoy serotonin instead.

I can't even enjoy MDMA due to its stimulant effects. Have tried more times than I remember, and every time all I get is jittery without any euphoria to really speak of.

That's how I was able to cut out drinking entirely and fairly easily.
I ordered a half kg of some green and a half of red veined kratom.
I went through it fast. 22 days to be exact.

But that was 22 days that I went from drinking heavily 4-6 nights a week, to working out again, eating healthily, getting some sunshine. Just giving my body some time to recover.

Once I finished all the Kratom, I went through an extremely mild 72 hour withdrawal and that was the end of alcohol for me as well as Kratom now well over 3 years ago.

I have used Kratom a few times since being "done with it." But have managed to only use it to treat pain. Although I of course still enjoy the euphoria.

So to update on this.

My headaches kept getting worse and I ended up getting CT and MRI scans on my head, they were looking for brain tumours. Finally after finding nothing (much to my relief) they decided they wanted me to take antidepressants. I told the doctor he's mad and decided not to go back.

The following weekend I took a 5 day weekend from work to go doofing, and like magic my headache lifted while I was away. I didn't know if it was just all the drugs and good times that made me forget it, just suppress the pain, but by the time I went back to work it was almost completely gone. Then 4 hours into work it started again and the next day it was much worse. Then I realised that the the problem was there at work. I got the maintenance guys to clean the aircon and within an hour and the pain started receding.

A badly timed mould allergy made me think there was so much more going on than there really was. I haven't been drinking now for about a season and now I'm pain free as well.

So much happier. Good times.
