Stopped drinking, heavy kickback. * 1
    #25922518 -

So I'd been drinking a lot this year so I decided to stop. Was great at first, didn't have any more hang overs and instantly started sleeping better. But now a couple of weeks later it's shit. I'm fucked up tired, headaches, general listlessness. Meh. I don't feel like drinking again, but the temptation to fill the gap with something else is pretty strong.
Gonna go to bed now. Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.
Night shroomy people.

This is gonna sound weird. Start eating a shit-ton of fresh fruits and salads. I mean really a lot. I started this about 5 weeks ago and I got all sorts of energy back and motivation to do stuff. It might not be missing the alcohol, it might be from feeling like shit from the other stuff you eat (which was my deal).

I start with like a couple of pounds of fruit in a smoothie or fruit salad or just eat it. One meal a day I'll have a huge freaking salad. I though it was B.S. before I started but I'm feeling great.

You may still be in rebound depending on how hard you were going.  Maybe smoke a little herb if you’re itching for a buzz but I’d keep away from the booze, it only gets better the longer you stay away.

Thanks hey everyone, support means a lot to me right now. Rough seas ay.
I've read on it and apparently it's not that unusual for people who have been going pretty hard at it. Probably just all sorts of healing and toxin dumping going on. Just gonna keep pumping the fresh foodies and megadosing the b vitamins. Another 2 days and I'll be on break from work for a couple of weeks. Will be loads easier when I don't have to force myself to do stuff.
Slept about 4 hours yesterday and just grabbed another 6. Crazy fkn dreams of note.
Work now. Hopefully I wake up properly. If not I'll just sleep again after work, just do whatever my body wants I guess.

Drinking heavily over time messes with your gaba/glutamate system, basically your relaxation/excitation center, it can take a bit to rebound for sure. Things can be pretty weird while your brain's getting back to normal. A lot of people think "It's only alcohol", but you're quitting a drug that gives people seizures and can easily kill while coming off a large enough addiction to it. Seriously toxic stuff.

Stay strong man, just gotta find some stuff to fill your days and with time you'll be back to normal. I've unfortunately been dabbling more than I should lately. Keeping it low for now but that never lasts... eventually I'll come to admit I just need to go total abstinence.

thats what I did, I switched my drinking with kratom, it has the added benefit that now if I try to drink on kratom the alcohol gets me drunk but its not enjoyable, how I imagine naltrexone works

my theory is a sugar high, but that kinda falls apart with the salad part, I know when I bought a juicer and I was juicing all sorts of fruit and veggies I felt great for a couple hours till I crashed

Perhaps drink some juices with antioxidants like cranberry juice. Youre probably detoxing.

That's what I thought mate. I jumped on the scale this morning and I'm definitely dropping weight pretty quick. Stuff knows what nasties are all caught up in that fat that is being burned.

Good idea on the anti-oxidants. Somehow I didn't think of that. Gonna go grab me some goodies in a bit. Thanks.

If you speak to your GP see can they give you thiamine or eat foods high in vit B1. With long periods of drinking your body is deprived of it so could be one of the reasons you're feeling like shit.

Also as madvalley said, eat shit loads of fresh fruit. Not only will you get loads of good stuff in to your body, it'll increase energy levels.

Stick with it man, you got this:fistbump:

Also, It's been a long winter, and I notice your user name: Northerner.
Lots of people are vitamin D deficient. Especially in the winter.
Wouldn't kill you to get a blood test.

You're going through alcohol withdrawal.
Sounds like you'll be fine, though, since you stopped before the habit got really bad.
You are doing yourself a huge favor by stopping now.

Thanks mate, I'm already smashing down the thiamine and activated b complexes. Fruits and natural goodies gonna see me through.

No, yes, yes.
Just the other fallout from abusing alcohol, it does so much shit to one's body. Physical dependence is the least of the issues and recedes within a week... I've been sober longer than that.
But yeah, good to stop. I can just eat and sleep it off till I come right.
Thanks

Yeah, it took a while to get used to. I was starving for a few days because I didn't realize I'd have to eat all the time. Literally two breakfasts, a snack, lunch, two snacks, dinner, dessert. Once I got with the program it's pretty good.

It's all about the volume. Juicers take out the fiber and leave (no pun intended) with the juice (duh!, right?) you want all that fiber to fill you up and then your brain finally says "Ah. I'm full". But the volume is insane. Pounds of food.

No?
It wasn't a question... I was stating a fact that you're going through alcohol withdrawal.
Just keepin' it real for ya so you don't start being in denial about it because that's when shit goes downhill.

I know it gets said a lot but honestly the best thing you can do when trying to get sober is to eat great foods and exercise a lot. Gotta fill that gap and exercise gives you something to do and it makes you feel better.
