A random question from a random happening....

I spilled a full cup of water on a bag of verm... The verm inside the bag is kinda moist... do you guys think its safe to use this verm for rolling and making new brf jars?
I just think that wet verm sitting for a period of time would breed contams..should I pf it or something?

Thankfully its really cheap... I do have some cakes dunking right now so I'll use it for them and toss the rest. I just don't feel right using moist verm for making brf sub

Lay in out on a sheet pan, It should dry out fine. You could even pop in in the oven on a low setting to be sure.

Vermiculite is a mineral and there isn't much risk of anything growing on it.

Verm molds easily. Leave a bag in your garage or let it get moist and come back in a couple days. It will be moldy as fuck

Thats interesting, I wonder if it has to do with climate because I had a coir/verm mix wet in my garage in a 5 gallon bucket since February and I just dumped it in my garden yesterday when I was cleaning the yard and there wasn't any mold or anything.

I would pop it in the oven, it should do the trick.
Or make a seeding mix and germinate some vegetables in it instead of tossing it.

I rolled some cakes in it after I pc'd it for 30 mins... pc'ing it might've been a mistake but hell,, it's a learning experience....I saw this dude on youtube that sterilizes everything and he has some nice looking shrooms. fuck it, I have like 30 more brf jars colonizing... Thanks for the advice you guys!

What did you put it in to pc? Your best case scenario is you kept the same moisture content, more likely you just ended up adding more moisture though. Just dry it out in the oven. You really don't need to worry about verm being sterile for a dunk and roll.

The verm in a quart jar with holes and tyvek
Yea but it’s sterile moisture..as opposed to not.. Ihopefully that won’t open the door for contams.. it stuck to the cakes so I’m good... for now...
I know I wouldn’t usually sterilize the verm for rolling cakes, the cup of water had spilled and sat there for several hours

Sterilized wet verm in a jar will be more prone to growth from contaminates than dry verm in open air. Seriously, just save some time and dry it out in a sheet pan in the oven. It will be fine and will basically be the same as before you spilled the water.
