Looking for Feedback * 1
    #25889760 -

Hello! So, I'm sort of new to the form. Have used it for reference for quite some time, but have never made a post, although today I wanted to ask for some feedback on my current grow. I feel as though I'm generally well positioned with it, but can't help but feel there's some dialing in that could be done to improve everything, potentially some things I'm missing. So, any and all feedback would be appreciated and whatever questions that you may have I'd be happy to answer whether it aids you or me.

So some basics:

I started with Organic Rye Berries
Soaked for 20-24 hours with gypsum
Simmered for 10ish minutes, stirring
Strained and dried overnight
Put in jars, qt wide-mouth.
PC at 15 PSI 90 minutes
Cooled overnight
In glove box, inoculated
Jars colonized
Once fully colonized - transferred to more jars
Once those jars fully colonized - spawned to bulk sub in shoe boxes 1:2 ratio - Bulk sub consisting of field leached and shredded horse manure, shredded golden wheat straw, coconut coir, vermiculite.
Upon full colonization, and appearance of primordia/pins - placed into FC
Fruit in 7ish days

Fc is a greenhouse, martha type
Humidity is generally fluctuating between 94-99 %
Temps are 75F +/- 2F
FAE is achieved through a 100 cfm fan that runs 24/7 on a home built humidifier. The FC being 18 cubic feet.
The FC has 4 6500k bulbs on 12/12 cycles surrounding it.

This is what I'm seeing as of right now:

The second bin in the FC:

Temp & Humidity

The first bin in the FC (First flush already yielded @ 28g dry)

The next two bins were placed into the fc after the first two.

These next two bins were placed shortly after the previous two into the fc.

Ultrasonic hooked to humidistat, turns on once rh% hits about 94 and runs up to 99. Air pump runs constantly with two air stones. Fan runs 24/7 @ 100 cfm. Thermostat hooked up to heater/ac. Cpap hoses run from humidifier base to all 4 levels of fc. Fc has slits on opposite side of inputs.

My personal concerns surround the size of the fruit, being on the smaller side.
The side pinning in one of the bins.
If I'm achieving proper FAE/Humidity/Temps

Any comments, advice, tips, or feedback is appreciated. Thank you all in advance for the help!

Why the foil in the trays?

This is a typo, or you have access to some industrial autoclave that goes to 90 psig?

They could use more FAE. Maybe even drop the humidity a tiny bit. Other than that, it's a fantastic grow!

@woofwoof There's not much of a technical reason. I just had a lot of foil lying around and used it to line the shoeboxes - to block light hitting the sides of the sub.

@Fungus_side Yep, that was a type. I've corrected it in the post. Thank you.

@Gaihu Groez Yea that's what I was thinking, a bit more FAE would probably help. I appreciate the feedback, and thanks for the kind words

Foil to prevent those side pins.

Foil doesn’t prevent side pins.  FIRST!

Keep foil away from mycology aside from jar lids and spore prints

Ive read that proper surface conditions is the best way to prevent side pins. But what if the fruiting conditions are improper, would foil/black plastic help at all to prevent side pinning?

I’d say plastic would work better than foil as foil would retain its initial shape.  That said, it’s all about surface conditions.  Mushrooms form where conditions are optimal.

Thanks for the added info regarding the foil! Whereas I did think it would help with the side pinning, I was primarily trying to keep it dark while it was colonizing. That said - I do want to try to remove the sub entirely from the bin/foil for fruiting on some of the upcoming ones. Also, potentially make them without the foil to begin with, just using a cover of some sort to keep it dark while colonizing, and then seeing how it fruits without foil, but still in the bin.

Here's some updates:

The first bin - didn't get an image of the second flush, but it came out to right around 20g dry.

The second bin in the FC - also didn't get an image, but it yielded about 30g dry first flush.

The third & 4th bins in the FC (I did crop out already around 120g wet weight between the two before taking the pics):

The fifth & sixth into the FC:

As you can see the 6th bin isn't doing a whole lot. Any thoughts?
While the other bins are seemingly producing good weights, the fruit itself is somewhat small. Is this something that could be chalked up to genetics alone?

Thanks again everyone for the help.

You don't need to keep it dark during colonisation. This is old information. Light is actually beneficial throughout the lifecycle.

I see knots all over that 6th bin, I also see it pulling away from the sides, thats why those side pins are creeping up.
