Upon my own research, all cannabis are hybrids. Indica came from India and grew short and bushy and sativa originated in Africa and grew tall and skinny.

There are definitely tangible differences in high between strains, but it's far simpler in the UK, i get the impression things are a bit ridiculous in the states now with legality, marketing and such.

I grew and bred for years and only buy into it so far, like i used to grow these lovely aurora indica black hash plants that were great for smoking in the day - and always favoured skunk varieties for the night. Can't really dispute the difference when you're smoking something thats like 8%/8% vs something thats like 5%/16% cbd/thc, its day and night in terms of headspace.

Simple case of THC - CBD ratios, but saying "this strain is good for munchies, this strain is good for focus" is taking it a bit too far and more about mindset than anything else imo.
Like you could say higher cbd would be better for pain because its linked to the relaxing body high, but what about if a portion of the pain is coming from the minds focus on it? Higher thc might be better to spin your head a bit? Who knows, like shrooms its stupid to say x strain has x effect on everybody...

U smoke vape pens now, it's very hard to tell the difference cuz that shits all bho, and loses alot of terpenes. Raw flower is easier to tell the difference.

I've had my card for 3 years. I think I've tried almost every strain my state has grown in that time period. And sativas DEFINITELY give me energy and a trippy head high. Indicas don't give me any energy at all, they make me feel blah and tired and I sleep really good. But I prefer hybrids. There really are differences.

Smoke a pure sativa for a week. Then smoke a pure indica the next week. I believe u will see the difference.

Also, sativas don't make u very tired when u come down. While indicas make u wanna take a nap when u come down.

I was starting to wonder if it's because of the cartridges vs actual bud

I've had 5 different strains at once before.

Ranging from sativa dominant to hybrid to indica dominant

Like others mentioned, i would test them by themselves in the morning as my first smoke to really get a feel for them.

No doubt the high is very specific and different

Mainly jist energy and clear headed sativa vs "foggy" body high and tired indica for me. Hybrid somewhere in between and sometimes more one or the other

Indica would make me want to go back to sleep in the morning. Sativa would prevent me from sleeping at night :shrug:

I could tell the difference in the high easily when they were on one end of the spectrum

I think it's because you're using these cartridges

Dont they say some questionable things about their safety? Think it depends on where you get them but pretty sure I heard some bad things about specific suppliers, could be wrong

I get my carts from the dispensary (only medical in my state) and they all feel the same.

Flower definitely has differences.

I'll do a blind test if someone were to send me 3 unlabeled samples (sativa, hybrid and indica each having a number for verification) I would bet anything I can tell the difference. I can definitely tell with dispensary bud.

One thing tho, it depends how ripe the bud is too, overly ripe sativa can feel like underripe indica and visa versa. I'm sure y'all know about the ripeness of thrichromes and how it affects the high..

I'm not sure if there's been further research, but when I asked a local dispensary rep about sativa vs indica a few years back it was really just a label.

Sativas came from warmer climates than indica originally and they looked different physically. Now with cross breeding you don't know what it actually is. Everything is a hybrid and physical characteristics won't tell you if it will make you sleepy or not.

You can't look at something under a microscope and say it's a sativa or indica, we don't even have a specimen that's a pure example of either to use as a model.

It's basically just the grower, seed manufacturer, dispensary owner etc labeling it themselves based on how it makes them feel or what they've heard from testers. You may even see well established strains with a mostly indica or mostly sativa version. I have a mostly indica green crack right now.

In terms of different strains, you can just view the analysis breakdowns from different dispensaries, and even the same dispensary over time to see just how all over the map the different thc/cbd etc contents can be with the same strain, the same is almost definitely true with many terpenes and anything else that would realistically allow you to tell the difference based on the high.

I definitely think it'd be possible to tell the differnence if you're getting the same thing for awhile, but there's a whole lot of inconsistency and wonky marketing going on as well.

The differences are so small that you almost never would notice imo.

Headband does give me a halo feeling in my temple area though. But pure indica pure sativa bought right from colorado dispensary and yea they're both get you high weed.

Sometimes weed makes me couch lock sometimes it makes me energetic. Both kinds of weed do that. Depends on the time of day and my energy level going in.

Blind taste test people on weed and I would bet all my money that these subjective differences all but evaporate.

I smoke different weed for different taste. Also stronger weed is stronger weed. Ive had really shit gorilla glue and really amazing gorilla glue for instance.

Yea I get that it's all somewhat hybrid. But I've had my card for years, I can tell dominant sativas and dominant indicas apart 99% of the time... my states only medical. Real pharmacists. Alot more regulation. Maybe it's just me but I can definitely tell the difference ALMOST all the time. Once in awhile I get a sativa that feels like indica tho or visa versa

But to each their own. I'll be a blind study guinea pig if u want :smile: lol

The high from citrus sap is completely different from say, chemdawg4... I've tried every strain these people had.

It's impossible for you to tell indica and sativa because if you read the link I posted, sativa and indica do not mean anything about the high and never did. It's all black market folklore.

Upon my research, the future of bud-tending they will ask you not what strain you want, but what % of thc to cbd you want when you tell the budtender what you are looking for.

Literally sativa never meant head high and indica never meant body high so whoever in this thread claimed to tell th difference is a victim of placebo.

Well. I don't get anything that's lower than 28% and I still feel a difference. I'm not gonna argue. I know I feel a difference. I don't think this just because of what I've heard. When I used to smoke all black market weed I could honestly never tell a difference. Since i had my card, I came to this conclusion by buying different kinds of weed. Every time I get indicas I feel extremely lazy and heavy so I stopped buying them. I'm not really saying it's only because of being sativa or indica, I believe it's all dependent on the terpenes and how ripe the buds are. Not just thc/cbd. Nothing I get ever has more cbd than .3% and always 28%+thc. Only things that are different really is the terpenes

I wouldn't say it never meant anything. Who knows what the people smoking pure sativa and pure indica actually felt from them, could've been a big difference, could've been not much.

As I said I had a dispensary rep say that it's basically a label based on consensus these days. If it makes people feel heady and energized it'll get labeled sativa and it seems will have those same effects on a lot of other people, so it means something. It's just not really a scientific or measurable term anymore.

That's true too. But my girl says the same thing when I come home with an indica and I never even tell her what I get :shrug: she's dumb as far as drugs go. But she feels a difference depending on what I get.

Definitely has something to do with it for a lot of people. I pour for wine tastings and it's absurd how easy it is to sway people to tasting, smelling, or feeling things that aren't there.

Weed is extremely personal and affects everyone different
Any “long tine” cannabis user telling you you don’t know about it is just being an arrogant dick lol
I’ve smoked weed for many years but recently stopped
For me personally it was making my creative work very difficult and my depression worse with out me realizing
Now that I don’t smoke no more , I’m more happy and I think more clearly I’m also getting a lot more work for my show done

Once in a while
But like a literal while
I’ll take one rip out a bong to make a video game more fun
But that’s my only real use out of it
It’s ruined more trips for me than has enhanced as well

If it’s good for you good
But if you have to wonder and feel like you can’t stop or debating whether you should or not
You probably should take a break at least and see how you feel

There’s few communities in drugs more annoying and pompous than the cannabis community
All that “Nah bro it’s so healthy for you! It’s not addictive in any possible way shape or form! This is a miracle pill!”
It’s all garbage
You gotta find it for yourself you know ?
