i think i may agree. I've got some cultures that go fuzzy as all get out no matter what i do with the fae and some cultures that don't fuzz no matter what. Once again, GENETICS GENETICS GENETICS. I do believe it may be the most overlooked thing in a magic making.

Well it appears that if i gap the upside down lid on my tubs then i get dried out spots under that gap.
I thnk i jst got confused. I thnk i was really scared to let the sub dry a little so i misted a bunch.

Also something i failed to mention is that these are 105qt tubs and i winged the amount of ingredients for the bucket tek and thr subs were super fucking dry. I poured water down the sides and both the subs sucked it all up. Most at first, the last bit slowly.

So ive fairly well jacked up these tubs, but it's normal for me to fuck up a bunch the first time around, thats why ive not bothered to get married. I'd have to do it twice to make it work.

First PE pin! Fat little bastard too. Jst popped outta nowhere. I cant find any others.

I'd highly recommend shoeboxes... lots of eggs in one basket there... anything larger than about 60qt seems to be more difficult to achieve uniform conditions across the surface... you could fruit 2-4 times the amount of spawn in the same space using shoeboxes stacked in 3's, and wouldn't be out so much time and resources when something goes south... there are reasons we do things the way we do, and why you don't see huge tubs... don't be afraid to let the surface dry a bit, evaporation is a pinning trigger and can't occur if you mist obsessively... don't know of many places in nature that it rains heavily everytime a spot on the ground dries up... realize that it's a living creature that has evolved in nature, and that it's a very tolerant species... set them up with clean spawn and field capacity coir only and LEAVE THEM ALONE! LOL

Also, just bc something is typical for you (messing up the first time) doesn't mean  it's determined to be... especially self aware... better prepare yourself in the future for your own shortcomings (like in general, not just cult, something the mushroom has also taught me lol) :goodluck:

I personally don't think fuzzy feat has really much to do with FAE at all. Open air grows get fuzzy feet. There's different kinds too. Most of the time it looks like the mycelium is trying to make extra surface area to evaporate off excess moisture at least that's my guess. But ive seem grows in bags without fuzzy feet and grows open air with. So the FAE thing doesn't really add up for me.

Now that's interesting. First time I've seen someone refuting FAE as a cause for fuzzy feet. I'm in the middle of trying to fruit some cakes and one of them has a bit of fuzzy feet showing. I thought I was giving them more than enough FAE so I was a little confused. I definitely think I've been over misting so bod's hypothesis is making sense to me...

For what it's worth...

I am in the same predicament currently, but have learned quite a bit about FAE from this thread, very informative and I thank you all.
Couple questions still though. Is the fuzzy feet something that will go away after a bit of time now that my lid is slightly open?

And if not, is there something I should do instead to get rid of it from here on, or will they be fine to harvest when they are complete even with the fuzz?

Thanks again!

they are definitely fine with the fuzz. Most people think that fuzz is due to high co2 and low oxygen. bodhi is challenging that notion at the moment which only serves to prove that even the best of us haven't figured it out yet.

That's interesting that people are digging up this thread wanting to know about fuzzy feets. In my limited experience B+ is a fuzzy footed variety in general.

You shud know that i absolutly hammered that B+ tub!

That pic of the pin thats got myc climbing half way up it was what popped out right before it went under. That tub smelled like a bums nutsack. I was over misting and playing with the lid and teasing sweet lady Trich...which eventually took the sub.

Yeah, this is my first time, and I do have a few of those in there. Its fuzzy at the feet, and then again halfway up the stock, then right under the cap. Im just learning and trying to do thorough research. Every time I see some new change, like bruising, spores released, and now fuzzy feet I freak out thinking its all going bad.

Im not misting either, just adding some water to the perlite when it feels kind of dry to the touch. 71-75 degrees in the tub, and 97 percent humidity.

Sounds like not enough fae. Ur fine tho. Fuzzy feet is just mycelium. It has a wierd texture when it's dry, but d oesnt hurt anything.

I've found that If u increase the fae a little after ur pinset fills in, and I mean like, when the whole tub has pins and they're beginning to all start growing upward, the won't get nearly as much fuzz. But u wanna wait till after ur pinset develops to increase fae.  And u can slowly increase it day by day. I'll learn, it's all about experience.
