I got some a long time ago and I didn't like it. The stuff came in the mail and I was anxious to try it. So I stuffed a bunch into my pipe and smoked it down. I suddenly had the sensation like I was being sucked backwards through a tunnel. It was fatiguing to think. I sat on the couch and I could see that everything was breathing. The psychedelic visuals were everywhere. But I was plagued by this sickly feeling in my head. A slight dizziness. I really didn't enjoy it and I just sat there waiting for it two wear off, which didn't take long. No interest in trying it again - I gave the remaining salvia to a friend. I don't think he liked it either.

Thanks for the input guys. I’m less concerned about handling the mental effects because I’ve ridden out some terrifying times on DMT and mushrooms. But even at the peak of the terror, I’ve always been aware that I’ve taken a drug, and I’ve always been in control of my body. Based on reports, it seems like there’s a huge difference between low and high dose salvia, so I’ll probably hold off on anything too crazy solo. Not worth the risk.

this is true dont do salvia alone is a risk to do it. My friend wi x10 almost die because we was throwing himself to the floor. So take care

if you reach level 4 on the siebert scale, you may not remember that you have smoked salvia and will be wondering wtf and why is this happening. most of the time there isn't much wondering about anything because you don't know what 'you' are and what 'is' is. this is as hard to understand as it is to explain but you are basically just along for the ride and very little makes sense.

just have a trusted friend to sit there with you for the duration. I've only gotten up and walked around twice out of idk how many salvia trips, but it certainly does and can happen.

^ Very helpful reply. Salvia sure is a helluva thing (based on reports). It seems pretty much entirely unique in terms of its mechanism of action and effects.

The visuals sound very unusual as well; I saw some reports making it sound like they're more in the mind's eye, instead of the visual cortex. The reports of childhood-like nostalgia sound cool too.

Anyway, looking forward to hangin with my boy and trying it in the not too distant future.

funny - level 4 is visionary, level 6 is amnesia, but these levels are not plateaus as such, at "level 4" over a period of 30 seconds you are briefly in a fluctuation of levels 3,4,5, &6 but for at least 15 seconds it will really match the description of level 4 more or less.

so it is true that you can forget who you are and why you are there while in level 4, but this will quickly morph into the visionary kind of experience you would come to expect from the dosage as a seasoned user.

However, at level 6 you will retain nothing at all for up to 10 minutes during which time you could have ripped your clothes off, broken through the window, ruined the front garden and raced naked into traffic or the crowd.

the idea is that you titrate up to a smoked measure of your salvia material, from a tiny pinch to a larger but still smallish pinch that you are "comfortable" with, and do not smoke larger pinches than that.

It's not like how many beers you can drink fun.

I guess it’s dependent on the person but I personally never had any problems taking it alone. I used to do most of my experimenting alone or laying next to a sleeping partner. I never got up and walked around but I’m sure anything is possible. Salvia is one I don’t really recommend, except as something to experience, for the experiences sake. It’s one saving grace is it’s a mercifully short experience.

It tastes like it feels....

It’s the purest example of ego death I ever encountered which eliminates any chance of enjoying the experience objectivly on an intellectual level, and makes the existential horror it can produce, seem very real indeed.

Transforming into an inanimate object is not fun therefore, because to all intents and purposes you really do transform into an inanimate object, and because time is also wiped out, along with the ego, it’s as if you really always have been the lifeless object. That was just not fun! Your sense of self must be operating somewhere though I think, on an unconscious level, which is why one is so terrified/repulsed. I anyway, certainly wasn’t able to let go, and accept that I was inanimate and meaningless object!

In hindsight it’s s cool tee shirt to own, and you’ll be able to share your space stories, but personally I think there’s some experiences and knowledge that you’re best without, especially at the time!

Inanimated objects, yes.

I became a snail shell once, helically spun behind my back. Anotrher time I was my living's room table, even felt the wooden structure on my skin.

Other times my entire vision split into several dimension sheets, like pages of a book that get septated or shuffled, and I felt a strong presence orbiting my head in a high frequency.

For me, a big bowl of plain leaf is enough to transform myself completly.
Usually, the gravitational body sensation are mainly felt with closed eyes. As soon as I open my eyes they are gone.

Salvia is wired stuff. :lol:

OK, so there are the female entities that you can't really see (or inhabit a plant you're looking at) which usually watch over you, speak to you or each other and are judgmental. If you smoke enough that female entity could become a fully formed human from your past. I saw a coworkers grand-daughter from three different angles before one of her pupils got bigger and bigger and stretched the rest of her head away.

But there are also male entities. To me they're almost always disinterested and like little silhouetted shadow wax man workers all milling about in different directions by the millions. One time I saw kind of like the post above with the pages effect but it was like a projection of one after the other mirror images of a male presences holding a fish.

In best Forrest Gump voice: Salvia is like a box of chocolates ...

I’ve only ever smoked salvia twice in my life. First time was with friends, and it just made me a bit weird and I had the sort of laughies but with a real deep tone to my voice.

Then I went home and smashed in 2 pipes of the stuff. I got lost in my flat, I was walking from the bedroom to the living room but oddly kept ending up back in my bedroom. Then it’s funny you talk about gravitational force because it felt like I had these 2 giant hands pushing me down to the floor, and I had absolutely no control.

It worn off after 5-10 minutes though. My advice is to start small. Apparently it’s better to make a tea with it and makes the feelings more pleasant.

I've never seen a good dosage guide for tea ... it's usually like 'use a bunch' because of its insolubility.

I've quidded before and the only thing I remember was kinda like looking up at the clock and the minute hand was stuck and then nothing, black, woke up later. I had also taken Valium that day so I don't know if it just made me groggy and then I passed out. I may try it again some day since that's how the Mazatecs typically did it (at least Maria Sabina).

Part of me is only a little trepidatious about that because a 30+ minute salvia plateau sounds challenging. I understand it's supposed to be a softer, more meaningful deal akin to smoking dmt vs. ayahuasca, but I just don't know. It's still salvinorin in your bloodstream and I think I'm kind of a soft-head and it doesn't take much to feel that other-worldliness.

Wow, this thread has been really helpful. I am approaching this with more caution than I have for any other drug. I will test the waters extremely gradually, and will not go too deep without a supervisor. I know this ain't no party; I'm just fascinated by the way Salvia seems to hit at a key facet of consciousness - kappa opiod receptors in the claustrum - that nothing else seems to touch.

One thing I love about the shroomery is that we can have a good thread without anyone telling me to hit the search button (which I did by the way, with some success). But I'm also just really intrigued by reading all these Salvia reports about how Salvia alters consciousness (possibly by disrupting information integration in the claustrum), so I figured this might make a nice thread for Salvia discussion. You guys definitely delivered on that.

As for quidding, I agree with lurk - sounds like it'd get very difficult if you took too much. But many people rave about it and make it seem gentler and safer than smoking, so I'm intrigued. I'm also a soft-head. Still might get a Salvia plant just for fun.

I've also heard of people mixing extract with bubble gum and chewing on it with success. I've never tried it.

And you're right about how fascinating it is that it targets the kappa opiod receptors. I've never tried anything like this but I would bet a sawbuck that you could stab someone who is in the middle of a strong trip and they wouldn't know it. The way it makes you feel and the way you perceive things is not of this reality ... it's so hard to explain but there is something about when it first starts hitting you that is so new but feels like it's familiar at the same time. You'll know what I'm talking about when you do it.

In my experience, there is a plateau one hits in terms of depth of a quidding experience.  And it's nowhere near the depth of a smoked journey.  It might be more than some would like, but it will max out way before a smoked journey will.  Most people have more trouble getting quids to work in the first place...I've rarely heard of someone saying it was too much. 

If interested in quidding, you can find several 'salvia quid' threads over the last year with plenty of details and tips/hints for making it work...or just ask for details :-)

Please tell us how your trips go once you give it a try.

Have any of you with experience on salvia ever tried synthetic weed as well? I've heard from friends the experience is very similar and if that's even half true I'm not going to touch salvia with a 10 foot pole :lol:

Na. It's not the same drug at all. Salvia is relatively safe. Synthetic weed is NOT SAFE. a couple months ago in New haven ct, over 100 people overdosed on synthetic weed on the green downtown. Look up the story. It's crazy.

Yeah I messed around with fake weed almost ten years ago now (can't believe its already been ten years). I had some good times with it, but also some terrible times. Salvia doesn't really sound too similar to it, but I couldn't say for sure. Although I did have a black out on some JWH powder sprinkled on a bowl of real weed back in the day. Very intense stuff.

It'd be nice to have some plain leaf. I think part of the problem is that people take huge doses of extracts without realizing what the X factor means. Assuming it's a true 10x, that would make 50-100 mg freak out territory. That's not a large pinch.

I've had plain, 5x 10x and 20x. Yes, 10x is strong. But I feel it's the perfect extract for tripping and staying in control. And 100mg of salvia is alot more than day, 100mg of weed. If u split a gram of salvia 10 ways, they are pretty big pinches. But that's like the perfect dose If u wanna have an experience.
